ZackNXO
I got a new hdd and after setting it up I moved Skyrim to it and set up NMM to the new location. Now everything before the move works with no problems but when I'm trying to update existing mods or install new ones through NMM, the esp files will be there but when I track to where any loose files should be they are not there. If I try to manually place the mods in my data folder loose files still don't show up. What did I do wrong or what do I need to do?
saurusmaximus
When you say "loose files", I'm assuming you mean the compressed files you d/l from the Nexus? Those don't go in your Data folder. In NMM, if you click on the little folder icon at the top of the screen, there will be an option to view three different folders; the Install location, Mods, and Install info . Check where all three are going to, I'm guessing that when you reinstalled NMM, one or more of those locations changed and NMM just needs to be pointed to where the files are. ZackNXO
Sorry loose files might have been the wrong term for me to use. In NMM, I did redirect the install location to skyrim's new location. So if a mod contains a .esp file, mesh files, and texture files, then only what was being installed thru NMM and placed in the data folder was the .esp file. If I tracked down where the rest of the mod's files should be (ie textures/actors/characters/[character name]) the folders, if not already there, would be created, but they would be empty. After doing some searching I did find a temporary solution by running NMM as administrator. Everything worked like is should. So is this more of a problem to do with permissions? saurusmaximus
It sounds that way. Is NMM installed in the same location as before?
ZackNXO
Thank you saurus for helping me so far. Yes, NMM is in the same location. I have also found that 7zip is running into the same problem as well. So, my second hard drive (not C:) is not allowing other programs(NMM,7zip, ect) to change/add files to it unless said programs are ran as administrator. Can I change this so every time I want to add/update/remove a mod I don't have to continue to run NMM(or any program) as an administrator? EDIT: Files are being place with the file type as .symlink instead of say .dds for textures or .pex for script files. saurusmaximus
Honestly, I would just uninstall NMM and reinstall it on your new hdd (this would be a good time to switch to MO, if you're up to it; it's a superior product.) You will have to move your mod files to the new location, click on the little folder icon at the top of the screen to get the location (its usually something like C:Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim). You need to copy the Install Info and Mods folders.
