Deleted32982275User
I've been looking into making textures for Fallout 4 and have figured out pretty much everything in terms of getting my texture in and such. One issue I had though was normal maps didn't cut it for my ground texture. When you looked at it from too sharp of an angle, you could clearly tell that it was flat. So I tried using the displacement texture instead. Hooked it up in the BGSM, but nothing happened. Been messing with it for a while and been searching all around to see if anyone could figure out how to use them but I couldn't find any posts for it. To my question:Do displacement textures actually work in FO4,andHow do you actually enable/use them in a BGSM file? Thanks Note: Decals can use displacement textures, but I am not sure if materials can. Edited September 7, 2017 by Guest
Nutulator
As far as I know normal textures are all that work. I've looked at many vanilla ground textures and they're all running normal maps.
Deleted15964729User
Impact decals from bullets etc have parallax occlusion (aka displacement, aka height). These are all basically standard height maps from what I can tell. I haven't found any example of material files having this set as the only examples I can find are in the texturesets category where options are available for this.
