michaelrutone
Whenever I play skyrim huge 3d textures and lines appear out of nowhere, at first I didn't have this problem, but now other games have similar problems as well, mafia 2 has random textures on the ground, and fallout 3 and new vegas have really bad graphics when looking at the pip boy.I have an HP dv6 with Intel Core i5 and ati mobility radeon at 3.8 GB of usable ram

Supreme6
Check if you've got the most recent graphics drivers and see if that helps. If that doesn't help, your graphics card might be getting too hot or might be malfunctioning in some other way. I don't want to worry you, but this reminds me of a problem I once had and it ended with my graphics card dying. bben46
Yup, graphics card likely overheating. Or on a laptop, the motherboard.First, check to be sure the fans - especially the one on the graphics card, are not clogged with dust and are actually running. A clogged fan is the most likely cause of this kind of problem. Cleaning may save you a lot of money as continuing to use it when it is overheating can cause permanent damage. If you have a laptop, they may have a hatch you can open to get to the fan. Otherwise, try blowing compressed air through the air OUTLET and intake. You can also use pipecleaners to clean dust out. First unplug AND remove the battery before sticking them into the air outlets.
schlingel0017
I experienced the same problem. Just opening the Catalyst Control Center and selecting "Restore Factory Defaults" from the "Preferences" menu solved the issue.
