SwampXdog
Getting Fallout 3 for the PC specifically because of the mods. Although New Vegas is nice, I enjoyed FO3 much more for the landscape, storyline etc. . . . But I have a simple question. Not even sure if I should have created an actual topic for it, but who gives a hoot? Anyway, my question is: I believe my PC will be able to run the Fallout 3: GOTY Edition fine, since I have the minimum requirements, but since I'm a n00b to mods, I'm worried that since, again, I have the minimum requirements for the game as itself, will adding mods cause the game to slow/crash/lag/any-other-problems? Rennn
It depends on the mods. Mods that track a lot of things at once, or mods to improve graphics will definitely make the game harder to run. Other things most likely will not have a noticeable impact. Crashes will be caused with or without a mega gaming pc, I'm afraid. Fallout 3 seems like a crashy game once you put more than a few mods on it. If you're not sure whether a mod will affect performance, you could try asking the mod author, though I'm not certain that they'd still be active enough to respond. I was already creating a list of specs I would get in case my pc couldn't handle the pressure. Cool to know even great pc's can fail, ha. I wasn't sure if I'd reach out to the mod authors for the same reason. Really, the only mod I was looking to keep was FWE, which looks to be a rather large group of mods rolled into one. . Anyway, I guess I'll just have to see for myself and hope for the best. Thanks again. Edited March 7, 2012 by SwampXdog
