Skyrim.esm file not found, some other bugs

Hey, I've had this issue since I installed Skyrim (with all DLCs and High Texture Pack), that Skyim.esm is missing (according to NMM), while it is not actually missing. I am also stuck in Dustman's Crypt, I cannot get out of there (the companion's quest that you retrieve the shard of that weapon), even with console (coc whiterun). Game also crashes if I die twice, and sometimes it is crashing when existing dungeons to Skyrim.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what to suggest about the master and NMM, and crashes can occur for a multitude of reasons, but I will suggest this...

Don't COC to Whiterun or any other city, it is a very heavy area and I'm not at all surprised if it routinely crashes by doing that. I think the COC command is a bit bugged, that it makes you leave a cell in an unnatural way which can cause problems. I always use Helgen for this because once the main intro is done there are no scripted actions around it unless bandits happen to show up. The cell name I use for this is HelgenExterior.

Whenever you use COC, always fast-travel immediately afterwards so as to force the correct cell updates to occur.

I wrote a piece on this, it probably won't help you with the general problems but it might if you use COC a lot...

The coc command was made as a result of me unable to leave areas. The game would enter infinite loading screen (and the mode that is supposed to fix it is bugged for me), and I have to restart my computer.

Sure, but what I'm saying is that Whiterun is a bad idea. Try Helgen, if you still get an infinite loading screen then it's probably not a classic COC bug.

qwertyzeldar has a point there - if the mod manager cannot find the master file then something's not set up right. While Steam might boot the game without a problem, I suppose there's the possibility that you have some mods installed, the mod manager settings were changed for whatever reason, and afterwards you thought you applied a required patch for a mod which didn't happen and now something's not working because of it.

I've triple checked, NMM is pointing to the folder where Skyrim.esm is located. And everytime that I verify file integrity using Steam it says that one file is missing and will be reacquired (though the last part isn't actually happening..)
And about the issue that I literally can't leave a cave, any ideas?

You'll have to forgive me, I don't use mod managers so I'm not entirely clued up on them, but...

Is the game directory setting in NMM pointing at the Data directory? If it is, should that be the case? It's possibly looking in the Data directory for... a Data directory.

As for getting out of the cave, I think you need to concern yourself with the "missing" master file first because it's potentially where the problem is. COC is the first thing to do, use the advice I gave about Helgen and fast-travelling immediately afterwards - if you promptly crash or hit an infinite loading screen then it's either this missing master thing or you have a problem with a mod or load order.

Does Steam tell you what is actually missing?

Good point on Helgen Reborn, so no it's not the best place. I dunno then, anywhere except there or an area like a city, a large fort, near a dragon, etc. Try the stones by all means, maybe Riverwood will be okay as well because there's not usually too much going on around there aside of a few locals pottering about. Riverwood is easy, the cell is called exactly that.

Okay, so NMM will throw a tantrum if you tell it to point at the Skyrim\Data directory. It didn't like it when I just did it.

If you're still having trouble then I recommend you try this...

Download the Save Tool (the beta one)... http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363

Click open at the top-right and select the relevant save file in %UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves

Click both Fix Script Instances and Delete all # and then save it as EditedSave1.ess. Don't exit.

Click Advanced and keeping clicking both options until it stops finding stuff. Save it as EditedSave2.ess.

Test both of these saves to see if anything improves.
