Low Polygon Short Grass Mod *removes medium distance tiling effect on grass

Oblivion Physics Mod v3 top 100 list - Using low variation for realism

Ninja Face Mask v0.65

Gameplay Data being used with Mods:

Shadow: Warrior "Blade, Block, Heavy Armor"

Legion Armor (No Helmet)

Helmet is replaced with ninja face mask 0.65 or sometimes its ninja face mask 0.65 and DB Assassin Hood with Legion Armor

Legion Shield and Steel shortsword

Steel Bow and Steel Arrows

Black Horse (No Armor)

I wanted to use SNR Crowded Roads since its in the top 100 list, but I could not get it to work. It kept crashing every single time!!!

Now that you have an idea of all the mods I am using, I have a few questions:

Since I am new to mods for this game I was wondering could you experts point me to the right mods which won't cause conflicts with what I am already using.

-I'm looking for one mod to keep my horse where I left it or something better than a map marker for a wandering horse.

I went into a cave to explore and when I came out *I still had to chase my horse half way back to cheydinhal and I was over by chorrol.

-I'm looking for a hood made to fit the low cut curiasses.

-I see that this eyecandy body ranks #6 on the top 100, but what I want to ask is how often is that list updated?

Is BAB's newer and better or is Eye Candy better?

Is there anything better thats previously been released?

-Whats the best sound mod for oblivion?

-Which character sound pack on the top 100 do you recommend for a warrior class?

Complaints:

*No enchantments - I can't stand the glow effect surrounding clothing with an overlay of white off the edges or a blade being red or green.

Does the exact same thing on weapons - If only I knew how to eliminate that I would use enchanted stuff, but the glow effect makes me use

standard non enchanted 100% of the time.

If I am not using the newest and best gameplay enhancements visually and as close to realistic I want to know!

I'm still new to finding out what mods are best for this game, but so far I am amazed at how detailed my oblivion now is.

As it stands the female companions are using legion armor and steel weapons, but no helmet or hood (Them helmets/hoods just don't look right with the low

cut curiasses). While the male companions use 100% of Legion Armor and I use Legion armor without a helmet with 0.65 ninja face mask.

The scouting party to advance and close the gates of oblivion appears like this:

-Player as a Legion soldier

-5 Male Legion Soldiers (Best looking default armor I.M.O.)

-1 Female Legion Soldier

Gaming System Data for Oblivion Gameplay "Very smooth gameplay"

1x Q6600 G0 with XP-120 Ultra Extreme @ 3.2Ghz

1x 680i motherboard

4x 1GB OCZ 1066 DDR-2 4-4-4-12-2T

1x 8800GTX with Thermalright HR-03 Plus

1x 500GB Seagate Barracuda

1x Plextor 760A Burner/Player

Onboard Realtek AC97 Audio with HD Drivers (Newest)

Nvidia nForce 9.64 XP 32

Nvidia ForceWare 175.70 Betas XP 32-Bit

nHancer Profile Oblivion and Global

-4x4 Supersampling AA with Oblivion AA DX9 Compatibility and Super Sampling Transparency AA

-16x Ansitropic filtering with gamma color correction and Enhance Ingame AA Setting

-Vertical Sync Off and Force Triple Buffering On

-Texture filtering high quality

With these settings and all my active mods oblivion looks awsome, but I get crashes which I have not yet been able to resolve.

The crashes seem to occur when I'm riding a horse or when I enter a door inside the oblivion plane, 10-15 seconds later it

happens.

I have never crashed on foot in cryodil.. Only in the oblivion plane and when riding various types of horses.

Its not a blue screen of death crash, its "Oblivion has stopped responding and needs to close" type crash.

Is there some patch I can use that will resolve alot of these known crashes that occur, while hopefully taking away my crashes too?

There is so many mods, so many patches, that I wanted to ask your opinion on what mod or patch I need to install to fix this.

The reason i posted the profile specs is because I wanted to ask - Do any of these profile settings I have locked in my global profile have a know conflict when running with oblivion?

I use HDR and the nHancer Oblivion Compatibility AA mode.

thanks

Well I don't know much about most of the mods you listed, but for the body, BaB and Exnem are good. Depending on what style body you like is how you'll decide what to choose. For the support for those bods, both have extensive resources. Exnem also has HGEC's improved version and there is also High Rez Skin Textures for Exnem with a whopping 179meg compressed file that opens to 1.35 gigs  I haven't tested it yet though, have to make room :wallbash:

I get crashes which I have not yet been able to resolve.

The crashes seem to occur when I'm riding a horse or when I enter a door inside the oblivion plane, 10-15 seconds later it

I believe these crashes are caused by 'change area' event. When you travel to new area your videocard(?) has to render a lot of items and their textures. This can put a lot of strain on a system in a short amount of time. I have similar system specs to yours, except I have better card. :)

With Vsync disabled (for testing. Vsync ON for better harmony between monitor and card) I get around 70-80 fps in normal gameplay, but it will slow down to 20 ish for a split second, when loading a new area with (quarls huge textures) when runing/riding.

With my old vid.card my game would crash at that point, and hence I started walking everywhere with my character instead of riding a horse/running.

Things that helped :

Setting texture size in video options to lower value. EG. Large to Medium.

Setting a view and render etc. sliders little to the left.

If you on PC(and you are :)) a program/plugin for oblivion called "slipstreem"(sp?) might come in handy with keeping the framerates constant through-out the game.

Mods.

I find that the best way to add mods is by learning how to use Oblivion Mod Manager (OMM) by Dev_AKM(?). Learn how to create omods out of modfiles (It's eazy)

This way you will see which mod conflicts with what and if the mod breaks the game, uninstalling it is a simple mouse click away.

Start with the large mods like OOO,MMM, etc. Dev_Akm(sp?) has figured out how to merge the 3 Gignormous mods together with FCOM: Convergence, which you can find on his web site together with Oblivion mod manager. Here

http://devnull.devakm.googlepages.com/

And then add the other/extra content mods.

Well, i have no idea what you are really looking for so ill just give you some advice, and some facts...

1.Fact. Most Armor mods wont conflict with anything. there are alot of good armor mods, some with quests like lost paladins of the divines, and some without, like apophis's armory of the silver dragon. ( althugh you do need to be like 20th level to buy some of the stuff.)

2. I havent tried it yet but Obscuro's oblivion overhaul Adds ALOt of stuff to the game, so i have heard.

3. Alot of the Better mods out there have written in there readme, conflict issues. So when surfing for a mod read the readme.

4. I am 90% sure if it is in the top 50 of the 100 list, it isnt going to conflict with anything, otherwise the trolls and flamers would put it down.

5. if you dont have em already get OBMM, ( oblivion mod manager ) and OBSE ( oblivion script extender ), and deadly reflex as you can cut npc's heads off and cut them in have, crush there skulls, set them on fire, freeze em, shock em ect ( all visual stuff ).

6. SERIOUS ADVICE, take into account what people tell you, but search for yourself, i can guarantee if it isnt strictly Vanilla oblivion, then every single persons Oblivion experiance is different, and by saying that i say make it your own and explore the sites, you could find that 1 jewel that makes the game what YOU want.

7. Finally, Read around the forums at the various sites, as you might find your answers quicker than you might expect, and you might find something good, everybody dont know about.

Enjoy your oblivion experiance!
