Skyrim .bsa Unpacking (Mac)

Seconded, I need this in order to override my vanilla texture and meshes, because mods that only use texture and mesh replacers without an ESP file with them will NOT work unless i manually go into the BSA files of textures and meshes and replace them manually (Ex. of such files: DIMONIZED UNP female body, Coverwomen; both of these mods rely purely on idea that they will override vanilla textures and meshes without an ESP, which is true for WINDOWS, this is NOT the case on the MAC, and these mods must be changed manually in the BSA files). We need a coder to get on this topic. This has been a HUGE issue for many mac users as i can imagine. Edited by Ossuras

Alright...i've been screwing around with CrossOver, I've been able to open the BSA with the BSA unpacker via CrossOver, but i've been unsuccessful using CrossOver with the Nexus Mod Manager. So i've come to this simple conclusion. Bethesda, please...FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE...release a BSA unpacker FOR MAC and NMM for mac for the love of god it would make this SOOOOOOOO much easier! Where's a coder when you need one :( :wallbash:

Same problem. :( Due to the mac's pretty much 100% manual installation method, mods that use .BSA files can be tricky...

Most mods that came with .BSA files can't be read by my game either. There's a few work-arounds I can think of:

Method 1:

- Download BSA Commander (Unpacker) on a PC, and install it: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3311

- Download your mod, and unpack its BSA file(s) using that PC, then transfer it over to your Mac's "Skyrim/Data" folder directory via USB or whatever.

(This is my likely alternative, because my PC {laptop} isn't powerful enough to run Skyrim, unlike my Mac, which is. But it's a lot of effort exerted, just to install one mod.)

Method 2:

- Back-track through the mod's older versions/ downloadable files. Usually, mods which now use .BSA files, started off with uncompressed versions - for example:

Mod A v.2 may utilise a .BSA file, but its previous version - Mod A v.1 may have had its textures/ meshes folders still intact/ uncompressed.

In which case, you could download that older version, and install that instead. This is what I did for the 'Black Sacrament' mod. I downloaded and installed v2.7 instead of v.3.

Obviously though, having back-tracked through the mod's versions, your mod won't be as up to date as the current mod version which uses the .BSA file.

I've had a 20-minute geeze through the web as well, and have found no such .BSA extractor/ unpacker for Macs.

Though it would be nice if someone found a more efficient alternative to the methods I mentioned above.

The only way I got .bsa files to work on a Mac is to extract them using a PC, and then installing the many individual files into their corresponding folder. I am fussing with ways to get .bsa to install without any problems, but as for now they only seem to work when the files are extracted. :(

And this is why I hate Macs for gaming X_X I finally got tired of trying to mod Skyrim with mine and bought a rig that uses windows. For things like 3D rendering and graphics designing Macs are great, but I decided I'd never use one again for gaming. I still have yet to find a program that will unpack BSA's for a Mac :/ I think your best bet is going to be doing it the way MavJr and idanxfi suggested.
