fteghost
If my friend makes a cell and sends me the .esp, how can I add actors from my .esp into that cell?
David Brasher
There is currently no program like TES4Gecko for Skyrim. If the merge is small and easy, you can manually do it, piece by piece, in the CK. If the merge is a bit bigger and you are patient, you can use TESVSnip: Mod Merging with TESVSnip. If the work is very very elaborate, you may choose to pass the file back and forth. One modder works, while the other refrains from working. fteghost
Thank you! that worked great. But it seems my voice files and scripts didn't go with the new .esp. Is there a way to create a .bsa with my old .esp's voice and script files?
fteghost
O and I did it using the TESVSnip.
David Brasher
When you change the name of an .esp, you lose the connection to all of your voice files and have to laboriously reconnect. (So it is not good to change .esp names.) I am not sure what is going on with your scripts. The external scripts in Skyrim are rather demoralizing. Did you try renaming your newly merged file to have the name of your original .esp?
fteghost
I was thinking about trying that. I'll let you know how it turns out.
TheDarkPrince
I am interested aswell so how did it go?
fteghost
Well, it didn't go so well. I just copied my old .bsa and renamed it the same as my new plugin but none of my .wav files were there. All of the dialogue and scripts were there I think, just not my voice files.
David Brasher
I wouldn't recommend renaming .bsa files. It is possible that it would work, but the way computers are, I would not expect it to. A .bsa file is a compressed archive. It usually doesn't work to edit such a thing. It works better to edit the uncompressed material and then to compress another copy. Voice files get lost when you rename a file. Oh how I miss TES4Gecko! I have not experimented with merging voiced mods in TESVSnip. I would not think that you could merge two voiced files in TESVSnip without breaking one of them. I am just trying to think about how merging one voiced file and one non-voiced file would work out. TESVSnip renames the file resulting from a merge, so the voiced dialog would be lost. But I am trying to think if it would be fixed by renaming the merged file to match the name of the old one. fteghost
I'm just trying to be creative now. I am gonna take my new .esp and use the CK to pack a .bsa. Then I'll copy the .wav and .lip's to the pack window in the CK. Wish me luck.
