MacKom
@jet4571 - What you refer to as "pure laziness" might actually be a case of lacking knowledge when it comes to handling CK. There`s lots of new modders (myself included) who want to create something, release it and get some feedback. And then, eventually, create a standalone mod. So, you know...give us some time. And try to see things from another perspective every now and then, m`kay?
jimhsu
From an oblivion modder's perspective, it's not actually "trivial". Just saying. 1. Armor2. Static object (optional)3. Armor Addon4. Constructible Object (what most people forget)5. BSDismember body indexes (which also confuses a bunch of people) Compare to oblivion, where doing #1 and then drag/drop into the game world was perfectly sufficient. This kind of underlines the need for simple, step by step instructions that actually reach the intended audience (i.e. the Steam modder crowd that is just taking up CK). Havoc10K
I'm from very early 80's Dear me, i'm nearly 30 and still playing games, but what can i say ? I can't go out killing people, but on the other hand, good games are scarce. Anyways, modders, get off your lazy asses and finish what you started ! God I could talk about Warhammer 40k a long day but am at work atm and need to pretend I am actually working while already being done :P
modder3434
don' say modders are lazy because they make a texture replace or they replace a guards armor with something else. modders do this for free and most modders have to start somewhere. What some of the more older, and experienced modders sometimes forget is that they where at that stage too, before they rose in rank, prominence, and skill. Havoc10K
I appreciate most of their work, cuz they are the people that fix 70% of bethesda's games. But I was thought by my parents and at school that if you start something, at least finish it.Modders were complaining earlier that this is replacing because they don't have the kit yet, now they complain that we should be glad they even do this ?Give me a break. Admit mistake, if you are manly enough. If you are a girl, i should forgive cowardice ? NO!You started something, finish it.
jet4571
Lack of knowledge is no excuse. there are plenty of tutorials to create a standalone. Again too lazy to do some research and experimenting.
MacKom
Ok...here`s the thing...whether a mod maker decides to make a standalone or replacer mod...is entirely his/her own decision. Don`t like it - don`t download it. OR...you do like it, but it`s not a standalone? Make your own for your own amusement. After all, you said one shouldn`t be lazy...right? :whistling:

Oblivion without mods was a dull game and I wouldn't even have purchased it if this site and its very talented community didn't exist. Skyrim and Morrowind are great vanilla but mods make them amazing. It is completely up to the author to decide how they want their mod to be. As the user you can change their mod however much you like to fit your taste but you have to both remember and appreciate that someone spent a lot of time on it. I'm sorry i didn't release all of my experiments for your downloading pleasure. I'm sure people would love to download and endorse half- completed, unfinished work. as for what i said earlier everyone has to start at the basics and work your way up. its like learning math, don't open the book to chapter 8 and expect to be amazing at it if you haven't done chapters 1-7. just like you can't put a roof on a house without the walls to support it. zing. Havoc10K
I could do it all as standalone, sure, but there are two things that stop me from it:-I'm not good with modding or anything, I don't know how this thing works, and Creation kit sure looks like it was designed for Fallout 3-Thus said, another application Bethesda is proud of releasing bugged and laggy. Also, why should I finish someone elses work ?Give me one good reason why I should finish it ?And no, my own usage is not a reason for me to finish someone's work.
