yes unique and essential.

if i tell one to follow me.. then say i go do some stuff, and i want to go eat.

i save the game, and close it. go eat.. come back, load the game, my follow will not be there. it also wont be where i put it.. its just not loaded.

it wont be anywhere.. but the game still has the flag set that i have a follower, meaning i cant go get another one.

*Sigh* OK so I tried both fixes and neither worked. I'm thinking either

A.) Since I saved while the error was active I might have fixed the problem but won't know until I can get rid of my follower and the get her back.

B.) Since I had to save the changes to an esp( about 5 actually, truth be told) it may be trying to overwrite the defective esm thus still deleting my current follower.

I think at this point I'm going to have to scrap the whole thing and start over with the advice from this thread. It's gonna mean losing several hours of work but it's better than banging my head against the wall for the next few days.

I'll let you know how it goes, Thanks for the help guys :)

to reset your follower, uncheck the esm/esp load the game, it will say something is missing.. then save it.

recheck the esm/esp and load it up. it should then reload the follower new.

i found out through testing that in order to make the follower show up and work perfect you need both an esm and an esp..

first make the follower actor, save it as esp, then convert that to esm.

then load that esm and do the ctrl-f4 and place the follower in the world and save that as esp.

load both esm and esp in the game and your follower will work perfect.
