Well, there is "Vanity Mode," which is where you press and hold the "R" key. You can then move the camera around. There are very limited action options though. You can only do running (you can't steer), jumping, casting spells, etc.

There are various things you can do to see your character, the main thing is the middle mouse button ( if you have, normally a wheel just press it down ). Never used the R button really myelf, didnt know you could do that.

 

Another thing you can do is press the "~" key or the key above tab and to the left of the one key, ( CONSOLE KEY ) and type tfc, that toggles free camera, and then you can look at anything in any angle you want, just use your default direction keys.
