game crashes inbetween loadin screens [help]

So like the title says my game crashes inbetween loading screens and also when i go to the skill tree it lags on the way to opening it up.

 

i have been told that skyrim can only handle 4GB of ram but im not sure if that is the reason for the lagging or maybe i havnt installed a mod properly.
