Annotated Cyrodill Resized...

I've been working (for my own personal use) on a replacement for the world map image, adding icons for locations, shrines, stones, wells... and as you can see I am just about done (click the thumbnail to see a full sized version):

Note the use of p1p3's Color Map Mod as the base image... this can easily be changed if p1p3 complains.

My question here is whether something like this already exists (as an in-game map... I know about the excellent www.jdw.ca maps), and if there would be any interest in a release of this as a mod. I've tested the scaling of the image down into the lower resolutions (80% & 50%) and am not very impressed with the way things look (blurry icons), but I'm running out of interest in this project so polishing things up for the smaller scale versions is not likely to happen. Of course, if I do release this as a mod, I'd probably also release my working PSD (layers intact) so someone could build upon my work if so desired.

Thoughts?

looks good

Thanks.

I find that using Leman's "AddMapMarkers" mod is a little too much for my tastes. Having all the location names immediately viewable takes some of the need to just explore the world. That being said, I'm the type of player that likes to see all that a game has to offer (I don't like missing things), so I thought making this map would be a nice compromise. Ideally I would have also liked a way of putting comments into the map as you play (so you could mark a wayshrine's location when you found it...) but that's beyond my abilities so a statically marked map it is...

I've bumped up the icon size a bit so they will hopefully scale better, but I still need to fine tune placements (so my markings are completely covered by the in-game icons). I've already done the verification for the stones, shrines and wells but unfortunately I'm not sure if I'll be able to verify all the Oblivion Gate locations because I haven't found an easy way to force them to appear in-game...
