David Brasher
I have heard some people say that they use an .esm for this, but I have not needed one. I don't really understand the situation well. Skyrim is so buggy. Oblivion did not have this problem. You would have thought that the people at Bethesda would have noticed that creating companions and other NPCs with new faces was a popular pastime among Oblivion players, and would have kept the ability to easily do this in Skyrim. But anyway, I just know that my procedure works on my computer and on the computers of some people who download that mod I made. In my case, I was just working with vanilla Skyrim face assets. I am not sure why your setup is different so that it won't work for you unless you use an .esm.
aarons6
i guess if you dont change the color of your skin form the default one then you wont need a skin map tint? my changed my skin to "custom" and picked a color.if i dont have an esm, my head is dark brown and my skin is the color i picked. jet4571
I have found that exporting the tintmask when it is an esp then doing it again as an esm, copying the files from the 2 esm folders and into the esp ones and the new textures work.
