crucifixio
I've had the official mod Orrery sitting in my files for a while, and I tried to install it. I received the following error: "The Aladdin HASP SL Runtime Protecting Module "C:\DOCUME~\Dave\LOCALS~...\bethsec.dll" could not initialize properly because it is incompatible with the current platform version. Please contact your product vendor." I'm using XP SP2 Media Center Edition. Does this simply mean that I wasted my money and can't use this mod? bben46
The problem is probably not with Windows, but with the version of Oblivion you have. If your orrery is old, It may be for an older version, but I think it should work with the newest patch. They are supposed to be backwards compatible. However, If your Oblivion version is the D2D version, there is extra security built in and it may not be able to accept either the latest patch or the official mod. Check back with D2D to see if they have an upgrade. If you have a cracked version, you are on your own as far as support is concerned.

bben46
Are you using Kaspersky Anti Virus? I did a google search on your error and got this: Aladdin HASP SL Runtime Error (Kaspersky Anti-Virus)ID: 2153 Revised: 12/12/2007Applies to Minitab 15Description Why do I receive the following error at launch? "The Aladdin HASP SL Runtime protecting module "C\Program Files\MI.\MtbMessaging.dll could not initialize properly because it is incompatible with the current platform version. Please contact your product vendor." (Kaspersky Anti-Virus)Solution This error occurs because of a known compatibility issue between Kaspersky Anti-Virus and the Hasp SL runtime. To resolve the issue, download the latest version of Minitab 15. 1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. 2. Double-click the Program Updates icon. This may also be listed as Software Updates. The Update Manager should search for and locate an available update for Minitab 15. 3. Select the update by checking the box and then choose either Install or Download Only. Note: Choosing Download Only will allow you to save a copy of the setup file to your computer for later use and will require you to run the setup file manually. Choosing Install will automatically begin the installation once the setup file has downloaded. The installation will automatically remove the older version of Minitab and will install the new Kaspersky compatible version. Let me know if this fixes it or not.bben46 edit: Also found a blurb that Bethesda knows about this 'bug' and claims it only happens on 64 bit windows. it says they are working on it and will issue a fix soon. The note was from 2005
crucifixio
That's bloody typical. I use Norton 360. I've never even heard of that other anitvirus. Yeah, I redl'ed the orrery, and I also got the spell tomes, and they didn't work. I know that I'm not using 64-bit XP. Edit: Has anyone thought of maybe unpacking the files from those installers and packing them up in a .rar archive and pm'ing the link to those of us who paid for the mods, but can't get the installer to work? I think that would be awesome. That way you can completely devoid the installer problem. Why on earth did they use an installer that doesn't even bloody work. Palpenious
I also got an error message trying to install the orrery, when I attempted to contact Bethesda, I got yet another error telling me the address was not recognized or something. Finally just gave up on it.
