WastelandAssassin
the only measure I've seen is to backup the executables of the game , and restore them after the updatethis way , your game is technically not updates , thus you don't have to wait for the mods to get updatedthis was done as a mod for FO4 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26956/?maybe you can manually do this for your Skyrim , especially if you know about the updates in advance
nightscrawl
I was referring to holding off updating until things settle down, which is what I'm doing. (I'll update eventually, just not now.) At this early stage, there will be frequent updates and patches, especially as SKSE64 gets updated. Eventually, things will be in a more predictable state where new CC content is released, along with an update, and SKSE64 needs to be updated along with it, but that won't be continuous and will be punctuated by periods of no activity from Bethesda as the game just sits there. I'd say it's wise to do this for most updates. Heck, a previous SE update broke Slow Time and had to be fixed via another patch. The people that held off on the initial FO4 CC benefited, because then a patch was released to prevent downloading of CC content (but not delete stuff that already exists on the user's machine) before the patch. And of course us mod users need to be extra vigilant if we're using mods that might be broken by an update. The first thing to do is ensure you're not a part of the Skyrim SE beta program. In the Steam window, right-click for properties, beta tab, select "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs." To stop auto-updates, but still play the game, you have to have a two part process. First, in the updates tab, select "only update this game when I launch it." The second is to go into Offline Mode in Steam whenever you are going to play Skyrim Special Edition. This only applies to SSE. You can go online to play your other games, buy other games, and whatever other online-only functionality with no issues as long as you aren't launching Skyrim. If you launch Skyrim in Online Mode, you will get the update. Edited October 4, 2017 by nightscrawl
Deleted30666895User
Perhaps the problem is SKSE64 is in alpha, and not ready for use, or any other mod released that depends on it, they are also in alpha, we should test it on a new character and report bugs to help the developers..:)

(6 means update avialable..)thsi is what updationg steam does when you start it , it checks all your stuff to see if there are updates and changes that flag in the manifest to 6.( it cant change if its read-only)these manifests are in steamapps folder.hope its a bit clear.works very well here....you do need to be aware that when there is an update when you start steam, do a restart...but i find this a bit easier than going offline. solovape11
I know this seems very late to say since it is now November, but i'm having the same trouble sadly. It's saying that i'm using a newer version of Skyrim Special Edition since an update has been released yesterday as well, and yes i have my options set on auto update (which was my first mistake lol). But i'm going to guess the only reason why i could ever play Skyrim SE skse64 is if it updates or play on offline mode huh.
