Anqayas
I want to change the lighting in some place, but I want to make my own lights and add them instead of editing the vanilla ones. So is it okay to just delete all light sources and start adding my own? Edited October 6, 2017 by Anqayas
cdcooley
Yes and that's the easiest way to do things, but only if you then open the mod in TES5Edit and clean it before you publish it. The Undelete and Disable References step of cleaning is critical. When you simply delete existing game content if the player also has another mod that references the things you deleted the game will crash. cdcooley
One annoyance can be that if you do the cleaning too early and then go back to make some more edits both versions of the lights will be showing in the CK. So it's perfectly reasonable to wait until just before publishing to do the cleaning. I keep a development version copy that isn't cleaned for mods that I plan to modify over time. nerdofprey
What I do is drag the light (or whatever thing) somewhere off the map, or under the ground, and then tick the "initially disabled" box. That's basically what TES5Edit does to stuff anyway, it just saves a step.
