I've been working on a really large scale mod for about 4 months now. I'm at a point where the player will find him or herself in an underground pre-war Enclave facility.

These are the basic ideas of the facility as it stands.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • There are extensive science labs on the premises
  • The facility is full of soldiers that went into cryo/stasis before the war, hundreds and hundreds of them, waiting to be awakened.
  • There are also some important brass; VIP officers, Generals, etc... in stasis as well.
  • The computer system that was supposed to wake everyone up in the facility failed for some reason
  • The facility for whatever reason was somehow forgotten about, or remained inaccessible to the rest of the Enclave.
  • An NPC that you will meet in your travels is actually a Remnant Officer from the Enclave who stayed in the mojave after the Enclave was decimated.
  • This NPC stumbled upon the facility but has no idea how to get it back up and running, though he is hell-bent on doing so.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Here's what I need.

  •
  • Back story on the facility
  • Terminal and Journal entries
  • More flesh for the story I have now
  • Reasons for why the facility was put there in the first place that is somewhat canon friendly if not completely canon friendly
  • Any other creative or cool ideas that would fit with what I've outlined

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

That's about it. Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help out with this. You will be fully credited in the mod when it is released.

Best Regards,

Joshua

I'd be happy to lend a hand, and can already give you a very canon-friendly explanation as to why the facility was there: The Mojave (even Vegas and it's suburbs) were a very low priority target, only Black Mountain and Nellis AFB would have been considered primary targets with Repcon being a secondary target then all other targets would have been considered.

So burying it in the Desert in the middle of nowhere would be the best possible place for a large secret facility they wanted to survive (why the real Mojave is full of old abandoned government bunkers and abandoned missile silos).

I also have a very good story reason for the facility to have been unentered by anyone in all this time: The very complex code key needed to open the facility doors was lost with a convoy on it's way do a final run of parts and personnel to the facility when the bombs fell, after years of piecing together clues and data the remnant enclave officer finally discovered the whereabouts of the convoy's remains and retrieved the key. Only realizing after he got to the facility and saw the equipment that it went far beyond his soldier's training to operate it. "Hell, I'm just a recon man. The crap they got in there is way beyond me, just a bunch of frickin blinking lights and knobs."

I would be willing to lend a hand with the terminal and journal entries. If you can give me some names of importance in your mod I can see what I can come up for you. If you have a better idea about a time when this facility was built it would help as well. Also if you can give me an idea about the numbers and/or types of soldiers there I can come up with a few entries for some of them just for flavor.

Something to think about. Pre-war Enclave and post-war Enclave were likely very, very different organizations. According to lore, pre-war Enclave was an ultranationalist Dick Cheney-esque bunch of nutjobs who, in collaboration with Vault Tec, were scheming to leave the Earth and go live on another planet with the other "pure" American folk. The Enclave we know and love had largely abandoned that idea long ago, and now are primarily focused on cleansing the wasteland (i.e., killing everybody).

These two groups probably wouldn't get along all that great. The pre-wars would view the post-wars as suspect, probably tainted, or even having strayed from the One True Faith - much like the DC Outcasts viewed Lyon's departure from traditional BoS. To the post-wars, the pre's would just be plain threats: loose cannons and inconvenient reminders of past history. The Enclave probably hasn't been totally honest with their own people about the war and their own history.

(Don't forget that postwars are going to have better tech, and the Remnant APA-style armor wasn't developed until long after the war. The best prewars probably had was slightly souped-up T51b.)

And there is also the Vault Experiment, and pre-war Enclave's role in that.

If you're building a lost facility of cryo pre-war E's (similar to the Maxson Bunker), I'd remember what their plans were at the time. It's very possible that such a facility would have been lost to post-war E's - the Enclave were always a bunch of secretive, paranoid jerks. This could have been a failsafe plan that got thrown into chaos when the nukes dropped, that particular super top secret file never having made it to the Poseidon Rig. The Poseidon faction was probably only a single component of the organization, or the command and control group.. a lot of their facilities probably were lost, destroyed or forgotten in the war.

There's a lot of old Enclave/Vault Tec loose threads in lore. Plenty of material to mine.

PM if you want some more thoughts. I've been playing since Fallout 1, and have read the lore docs back and forth more times than I care to count. :)

Well they made a point of the fact that west coast and east coast Enclave are very separate organizations from the same origins (prewar Enclave) the fact that the Eden AI had been leading the East coast group since they emerged was brought up...there is also the suggestion in the story that Eden was just one of several AIs developed to run things created by the prewar Enclave but only Eden was active (the rest were lost or in forgotten facilities).

Also from the different threads of Enclave lore left scattered around the Fallout Universe it is obvious that prewar Enclave had at least two factions as well: One instagating the war and using it's influence to develop horrible superweapons and planning for an apocalyptic scenario which they planned to survive and come out supreme after; and one dedicated to avoiding (for themselves and a chosen few others) the apocalypse they saw coming from war or just further depletion of resources, or even the super-plagues that seem to be infecting large numbers of people all over the world shortly before the bombs dropped, by going into space and living on a new world/new worlds. Both sides used tech based on research done by scientists studing the alien tech they acquired somehow (whether it was from a ship crash or a deal between Enclave and aliens never explored).

Wow, just wow.

Thank you all. I'm not really well versed in Enclave lore, which is why I reached out, I'm ok, but you guys really seem to know your stuff. and you guys are awesome for getting back to me.

I would like to move this topic to a private conversation with you all, however I can't do that with the nexus site. I don't want to give away all of the details of this mod on a public post, and I won't be able to keep track of so many multiple conversations spread across a bunch of private pm's.

So here's what I've done and I hope you guys will take me up on this. I downloaded and installed some open source project management software on my own server. (yay open source!). It's called project pier, and I set up accounts for all 3 of you.

The way it will work is that everyone can see what everyone else is saying without it being public here on the forum. I can write up a lot of what is already in place so you'll have a better idea of what you're helping me with. Plus I can detail out what I need and trade ideas and such. I'll also be able to give you all access to download the mod in it's current incarnation.

It's a very easy to use program and it operates in a similar fashion to a forum mixed with a wiki, that also shows a running list of all our messages... I use similar very loosely but the program is very easy to use.

I'm going to pm all of you login details which are basically your user names you have on this site, with a password that you'll be able to change.

Thanks very much for you help and I really hope will take me up on this so that I can bring this mod to very good close.

Best Regards,

Joshua

This is a flash idea: If you have seen the movie Pandorum, there is also a lot of people in stasis, but the ones who woke early were traped in the facility for quite some time maybe a century, and got crazy and transforme into ugly dudes, and finally the only food on the place for the ugly dudes are the other people in stasis.

Well meybe u can use that to add a bunch of foes in the facility.

Oh I almost forget, I saw ur vid and I was wandering How did you do for the dude to type on the terminal?

The people coming awake is a very cool idea.... not one that would work for this mod, however very cool for another one maybe. We'll have to see.

The typing on the terminal is an AI package with a use terminal idle assigned to it. Once I release the mod you will be more than welcome to check it out in the GECK.

Thanks for the reply....

On to other business... since I'm here already.

The mod is progressing nicely.

Shandarr is working on some terminal entries and such, and some other folks are recording voices at the moment.

I'm building more cells for the Enclave facility, decorating them, and furthering the final quest. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank... Something!

If anyone wants to take part in this mod, lots of jobs are available. Reply here or PM me if you're interested.

I am also going to post a link here to a video of the first quest of the MOD. This video is for folks who might be interested in helping. So if you don't want spoilers don't watch it.

THIS VIDEO IS A SPOILER!!!!
