rezman01
I'm playing the game and I noticed something weird and now it's bugging me. If I go into town with trees and I look at an area close to me the shadows seem to sway in the wind which looks really nice, but if I stay in the same spot and look at a place a little farther the shadows stop swaying and looked like they are baked into the scene. Not sure if it's an ini file problem or what.
Rennn
Yeah, I noticed that as well. It's to help performance, I think. Only the things you can see are animated, and unfortunately if you don't see a tree, its shadow won't be animated either. The same goes for windmills, flags, and probably just about any other static. Yes, it probably helps performance a significant amount, but the downside is it probably leads to more stutter when you turn quickly. I'm not aware of a tweak to get rid of it. Sumrs
It seems that the shadows resolution changes according to current FOV (Field Of View). At default FOV 60, shadows are pretty good at 4096res,8000 distance. At FOV 80 resolution decrease like by half or even more. + Some directions of view increase this resolution, that you guys had already noticed.Try to lower your FOV in console, and youll see that shadows resolution increases. Even at FOV ~15-20, "under the microscope" shadows still look nice.So THAT is the main bug, that causes a "shadow resolution problem" at long range distances, from the outset of Skyrim release. Somebody should explore it more deeply. I hope it will be fixed by mod, or at least bethesda will know about it, and FINALLY fix it. Sorry for my english.
