TES V: Barbie?

Unnatural? Pffaw! Humans are natural creatures. Whether it's right or wrong, nothing we do can be inherently unnatural. As for morality, there's a signifcant case to argue that the body is the least important part of a human. I haven't seen any mods to reduce the vocabulary of female NPCs to the equivalent of a seven-year-old to simulate anything creepy. Humans are attracted to all kinds of strange things, usually due to genetics. You wouldn't call a 28 year old man dating a 28 year old woman with small breasts a pedophile, nor would you call someone dating a woman with large eyes the same. Just because someone is attracted to a specific trait like a small chin doesn't make them a creeper just lurking, waiting to drag a female into a van.

You could even argue that Skyrim in its entirety is disturbed merely because the NPCs you can marry technically have no choice in the matter.

Note that I studied Sociology and Psychology for the past few years.

Just curious but what stage in this sociology/psychology degree did you get to? Not trying to have a go, just makes me more interested in your opinion is all :).

That said, I never said that one single feature made them creepy, but you got to admit, a mod that puts all those features on one character? Dubious much??

Seeing hints of that on the front page is not a good look, however way you look at it.

I'm not trying to get a degree in anything related to Sociology or Psychology; I'll be going next year for some digital art courses, whether it's texturing, 3d modelling, or more than likely, both. Psychology I've been studying on my own, but ultimately I decided there was too much competition (read: too many people with more dedication than me). That, and I don't want to take the risk of giving therapy to a stalker who cuts off my fingers and makes them into a necklace. (mostly kidding)

It's not my goal to try to claim "yeah, I'm as smart as someone with a degree" or anything like that. I know that's not the case. I included the line that I'm studying it because it hopefully shows that I didn't just stumble to the topic and start arguing from bias. (I hate it when people do that) It helps that my family has a nearly 100% history of chronic depression, with some schizophrenia mixed in. Fortunately I haven't been hit with the latter, yet. The point is, knowing you're at an extremely high risk makes you research a lot of mental stuff, and it grew into quite a large interest over the course of several years. There are gaping holes in my knowledge, I'll admit to that much. I couldn't tell you the difference between an existential nihilist or a metaphysical nihilist, for example.

Anyway, yeah. When you mix many of the traits of individual mods together you end up with something more and more suspicious, but so far I haven't seen many traits being combined. Until that happens, it's not so much about the Nexus drifting into fragile legal waters as it is about personal moral values. I'll take the moment to point out that I hate the objectification of either gender, but I'm not going to start a thread bashing them for making mods like that because that would give them the right to criticize me for my grass mod, if they really felt it was necessary.

And consider this: are the shaved nude mods on the Nexus not more harmful than any of the others you've listed?

Heh. The Oblivion nexus front page is even worse. But don't worry, once the quest mods and overhauls start rolling in, it'll be sweet. Just takes a while for the good stuff to shine through.

This " lets complain all day " - Topics are absurd.Live and let play.

Not really, I have a legitimate point.

From what I've seen of the front page, and from what I know of nexus (as a site) there is a chance this could drop off the deep end legally at some point. Sexualized anime is already illegal in many countries because of it's portrayal of young looking characters, I don't want to see nexus allowing that kind of thing. I wouldn't know, but I do know there are a lot of mods that make characters look dubiously young on the front page and, well, you mix that with the adult content, you have a big problem. Not only legally, but what kind of people are you allowing on the site?!

Well nexus has a no tolerance policy on mods/pictures/content with child porn or children in extreme clothing, I saw this a lot in the fallout sections and they where removed very quickly with those involved banned.

Anime is very stylised and does NOT translate well into any of the TES/Fallout games, the textures turn out to smooth (as is the normal anime style) and the big eyes give a very child/innocent feel. So anime in itself is not child porn, BUT there is child porn in some anime only called "cute" names like Lolli and Shota instead of what it is pedophilia.

I was into anime for a long time but that phase has passed so I can appreciate the art behind it all, even in games like Skyrim.

Now if you feel a mod is displaying children in a inappropriate way report it!

On another note, guys (a lot/most) like women to be young or young looking and women (a lot/most) want to look young so guys will like them. That is why there are so many young looking females barely above legal, that will never change. *shrug* Take that as you like.

Honestly, I've been a bit frustrated with this too.

The frustration is mostly based off of personal opinion. Now, I don't mind revealing stuff or mods that show cleavage. In fact I think that, if done right, it can actually make a female character look more bad-ass (This Daedric corset, for example). What I'm personally frustrated about is that in my opinion what ends up taking up the spot light most of the time isn't done right in that sense.

The other thing that frustrates me is that I feel like there's really cool armor mods out there that, for example keep true to Skyrim's original feel (See above, and This little gem for examples) that people might like, and they get left in the dust by bikini mods and whatnot.

Makes me wish the site had a system that high lighted more underrated mods on here somehow, ya know?

I'll take your word for it, but I still question anyone who would put a big eyed, small faced young face on a nude mod - if anyone does that they are a dirty pedo. I hope nexus takes any mods that do that down - I am making assumptions here because I don't browse the adult mods nor do I want to - as you said, they already moderate content like that, I guess it just depends on their threshold, but it's playing with fire if they don't take it seriously enough.

But the anime mods have looked very young on the front page and when a user called "hentai" puts out a mod with that in it, you can only feel like there's something nasty in those mod links.

i was lucky enough to find this heroic stormcloak gem you mentioned... and i wonder how many great lore-friendly armor and weapon mods i already missed because of the quantity of female, sexy, skimpy, whatever "armors".

i sure tolerate those mods. i don't hate them. but lately it gets a little out of hand how many of them there are.

sadly i am not able to create stuff i like since i lack the skill of modeling and stuff. so i got no right to complain about it.

I'll go ahead and lock this one. As we have all seen the same inane argument over and over from a very small minority of players who just cannot stand to see mods they personally disprove of without complaining.

if you don't like a mod because it's content does not fit your game, just pass it by without commenting. If you dislike seeing sexy mods, turn the adult filter back on or close your eyes. Constant whining may be hazardous to your account.
