Please help me, I've tried everything! Constant freezing on high-end laptop!

Hello everyone and thank you for taking time to read this.

A couple weeks ago I bought a gaming laptop and of course was excited to try serious modding with Skyrim SE. Sadly I have had major issues with the game. Specifically - freezing. I have done everything right installing my mods and I am an experienced modder. I used NMM to install, LOOT to order, WyreBash to check for conflicts or dirty edits & SSEDIT to clean.

Now I get frequent freezing. No error message and no lag just instant game freeze. When this happens I am actually forced to restart my machine. The game itself runs incredibly otherwise with near perfect FPS in the 50's almost anywhere which is why this entire thing seems so strange. There are no issues reported from WyreBash and I couldn't find any mention of the mods I thought might be the problem online.

First let me start with my PC stats:

Intel i7 w/ 2.8 GHz.

16 GB memory.

GeForce GTX 1060 w/ 6.0gb of memory.

Running on Microsoft Windows 10.

I am running the Creation Club Survival Mode I have also been suspicious of this but seeing as there is no easy way to uninstall I'm not convinced it's causing my issues.

I am running Skyrim on ultra settings with ENB & SKSE. Here are the additional mods I have:

For the record "New" is my own project I'm working on and I know that it is clean.
I am suspicious that I have installed too many conflicting texture packs as NMM gave me a lot of "file exists" and I usually just picked the texture/mesh that I liked better when I had these conflicts.
I'm also confused about memory issues as I've read a lot of different things online and I can't tell what is current. Many guides mentioned that I needed to add the SKSE.ini file to increase memory heap to 1024 which I did - no impact. Some other mentions including a "ENB Boost" which I also installed - no improvement.
At this point I'm questioning whether 1 mod alone is causing these problems and why no error logs are generating for either SKSE or Papyrus. This tells me the issue is not script related so instead it must be memory.
I have literally no idea what step to take next other than to start disabling mods at random which I don't want to do. My computer can handle these mods so I hate to lose the quality that I am now used to. The game looks incredible and is so much fun with all the random creatures, armor and encounters I can't imagine removing any of it now.
Anyway, I really appreciate any advice or help as I'm basically out of ideas.

The SKSE memory fix is not needed for the Special Edition. Texture "conflicts" shouldn't cause crashes - it's okay to let them overwrite one another. You have a 16GB's of system memory, and 6GB's of VRAM - I really don't think it's a memory issue that's causing your crashes. Did you rebuild your bashed patch? Is the bashed patch even active? Also, whenever reading anything about Skyrim modding make sure it's about the Special Edition specifically. In addition to that, just gets mods that have been ported over for the Special Edition. Mods that haven't been ported over yet can cause crashes.

PS, I would not touch the Creation Club with a barge pole. It's a Paid Mods Back Door Mode from what I can see.

Using mods like SkyTEST, Frostfall, Real Needs and Diseases as well as camping, Alchemy and Cooking mods etc, I can have all the Ranger/Druid survivalist experience I could wish for.

And you can tweak the settings, so you do not freeze to death every few minutes, can drink a reasonable amount of booze before you fall over and don't have to stop, make camp and cook every 10 minutes.

Although some people recommend against it, I have never had any issues, so personally I change the in-game clock so instead of 3 minutes real-time = 1 hour in-game, 15 or 30 minutes real-time = 1 hour in-game.

Then I can tweak the settings of the mods so I have to stop and eat every 6 hours in-game and sleep every 16 hours and would freeze to death in 2 or 3 hours real-time (faster if I am soaking wet) instead of something daft like 9 minutes real-time.

Survival Mode apparently does not allow any of this, and does not do it as well as existing mods.

Thanks for all the advice. To answer the first question - Yes, all of the mods are for Skyrim SE. Some things like SKSE and ENB are in beta but it's really worth it for the quality of the graphics that frankly I didn't even know was possible to achieve. Especially with Truestorms ENB it's insane the lighting effects it's extremely dark in the wilds but if there is lightning it for a spilt second illuminates everything just like real lightning. The monster/npc mods are also totally essential. I am bored of the vanilla creatures and I don't feel there are enough NPC's in the game. The extra weapons/armor added do certainly help keep things fresh. There are a few oddballs like 28 days later that I plan to activate at level 9 so I can also role-play the zombie apocalypse.

Now, I think I found that the biggest culprit WAS survival mode. (Hence why I'm quoting you Shadey). I disabled it so my girlfriend could play and she had no freeze during those 1.5 hours. She did have 2 very fast CTD but they were right after each other and I can live with that. A CTD once an hour is no big deal it's fast to start it back but having the whole computer be restarted is annoying.

As soon as she finished playing I enabled survival mode and within 20 minutes I had a freeze and I had another very quickly after the first.

I totally agree with you. Bethesda has a history of creating somewhat buggy/dirty things and expecting the players to clean up the mess - Where else would you find a file that says "AdamDeleteThisAfterTestingTom" than a Bethesda game. Now that's not putting down Bethesda but I'm just saying I don't trust their mods and especially now I don't think I will utilize Creation Club I would much prefer to donate to Nexus modders.

I think you for your advice/help and so do my character and her partner in crime (the girl that lives alone in the cabin and can help you practice archery is my companion).

I will post again if I figure out any other issues causing the freezes.

Yes, a lot of us have loved TES since Daggerfall, many since Arena. The bugs are part of the experience, but since Morrowind, there are many mods and bug-fixing patches. We often think of Bethbugsda fondly, as the games themselves are so awesome. I don't know why camping is not part of Vanilla, though. They seem to prefer us to never sleep unless we come across an old tent and bedroll where the owner was eaten years ago!

But at least we cannot collapse from exhaustion like in a Daggerfall dungeon and be food for a passing wraith!

A friend of mine is a compulsive beta tester and tweaker and has tried the Survival Mode and managed to get it to work reasonably well, but he has very few other mods installed. But if that is what is causing your freezes and crashes, I would definitely avoid it and check out similar SE mods for survivalism, like some of those I mentioned.

I could dig up my settings if you're interested. I think I have them on a private chat group for my Skyrim friends.
