Institute to Aperture Science

Hi Guys!

So this idea just dawned on me today and I decided I would put in my first mod request for Fallout 4.

Has anyone ever thought the institute was a lot like Aperture Science in the Portal games? Teleportation.....Big ceiling mounted white robot....the LOGO is almost the same...

So...I am thinking of this huge mod...one that replaces all the institute logos and location data with Aperture Science. The biggest and most difficult part of the mod will be GLaDoS. I want to have the synth assembly machine replaced with her, yet still be functioning in a similar way, her body is almost identical to the machine, her head would be the end with the light and grabber claw, and the needle side would stick off the back of her. It wouldnt look 100% like her, but more of an adapted model to still work properly building synths, while looking like her. Also, maybe we could splice in some quotes from her over the audio files for the sound effects of the machine moving so it seems as though she is talking as she puts together each synth. We could probably add some ambient dialogue over the PA system of the institute as well, mainly a lot of her reminders and safety waivers you would hear as you complete tests in portal. We could probably also replace a lot of the institute storage crates in the storage rooms with aperture cubes....maybe a companion cube or two and we could put some hidden graffiti on service walls saying "the cake is a lie!" And in the older parts of the institute we could have Cave Johnson over the PA just for laughs.

We could also probably make a new form of constructible turret for settlements that looks like the Aperture turrets as well as place them around the "restricted" parts of the institute like when the player chooses to side with a faction other than the institute and has to blow it up. And if the institute is blown to bits, if you return to the crater, you will find a wrecked GLaDoS somewhere in the middle, maybe some broken turrets with their hilarious dialogue from Portal 2.

I have also been thinking of a quest line to go with this mod. Mainly, one that goes WITH the main quest line if the player decides to side with the institute, you would have to gather components from the commonwealth for a new, fully voiced NPC, whos name is up to the mod creator, could be a descendant of Cave Johnson, Caroline, or Chell, or something completely new. But it would be this character NPC that gives us all of our quests. We will be completing quests for him/her gathering components to make a portable version of the institute relay, the portal gun. One that would allow the user to not just relay from the institute and back, but to teleport from any location to another within shooting distance. They will also give us a quest to go to Mass Fusion to get the secret long fall legs that are hidden there in the vanilla game, though they will be modified to look more like the long fall boots in portal. At the very end of the quest line, you wont be able to progress any further unless you have already completed the main institute story and killed the other factions, completing nuclear family, etc. After this, the final quest will automatically be triggered to go and see the NPC again and he/she will reward you with the portal gun and give you a brief run down of how it works.

Really, the institute is SOOOO much like Aperture. I think this would be a really cool mod idea, not exactly lore friendly, but very fun and enjoyable.

This will be a MASSIVE undertaking...we are talking months of time. I can help out with the voice acting if need be, I already have some experience with voice acting. But I have zero experience making mods for fallout.

Cant wait for a response! I dont have much to contribute to the process of creating the mod other than my creative vision, and guiding the modder to make sure everything is executed properly.. so I wont take any undue credit... all I ask is that the mod author who decides to sign on mentions me as the person who suggested the idea, nothing more.

Cheers!
