Lecias
Hello everyone, I'm pretty new to Oblivion after hearing one of my friends rave about it again and again to me, so I finally decided to get into it and so far its awesome. I've modded the hell out of it because I really don't like most of the elder scroll mechanics so I'm trying to side step them, which brings me to my question/request/idea: I got this mod "Caster Freedom" (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2229) where it removes the spell school skill level requirements from all purchasable spells (I've noticed it forgot the spell vendor in the Dark Sanctuary but whatever) and it basically becomes that magicka is your limiting factor, and if you want to use some super spell of doom that costs 90% of your magicka its your choice, and you're not glass walled behind the spell skill level requirement. The only thing is, as most of you probably know, is that most of the premade spells just don't cut it later on and you need to make your own spells to get the job done well. Now Caster Freedom doesn't do anything for spells that are made by the user, so the spell skill lvl requirement is still enforced. My question to you guys is: Is it possible to remove this spell skill level requirement when creating your own spells, or is it something that is permanently embedded into the spellmaking script? (I looked through the CS myself for a bit, but there didn't seem anything that I could do on my own with my limited CS knowledge)
Vagrant0
When spellmaking is used, the skill requirement for the spell is controlled by the magicka costs for the spell. The only way to get rid of them with spellmaking would be to reduce the costs of the spell effects themselves. The other option is to lower the settings realated to the various skill ranks (journeyman, master) so that at 50 skill you can use master required spells. The downside to this is that it relates to all skills. Meaning that you'd have access to those various other skill perks sooner (as would many NPCs). The better alternative is to just use a spell mod which increases the strength and variety of stock spells, which reduces the need to create your own just to remain strong enough. Supreme Magicka is a very excellent mod to achieve what Vagrant is suggesting, as it overhauls the magic system in Oblivion. Also check out Midas Magic.
