totalwarman
Id like to see more interactivity between the NPCs to, in future patches they could add more body types ,like different ages child, old people, fat people etc. They also could add some interactivity between the personages. I really understand the OP, most of the NPC don't seems to do nothing, don't carry nothing, walk with no destiny don't have family, yes those clone kids are orphans,or at least look like, because i never see one walking hand by hand with his mother. But what a hell, this is a game, not an alternative world, if they could improve something, better, or the moders, if don't, that's ok to, i love this game anyway. silven88
wild animals, if i am a peacefull type let me pet them/feed them etc. and let the area remember you (with time the bigger wild life could even start to protect you) I've got nothing against wanting more personality and interaction from your game, but... You ever try to pet or feed a wild animal?? Good luck trying to cuddle with Bambi.

Good luck trying to cuddle with Bambi. i thought i would comment on this one. actually i have, as a child i found all kind of wild animals and brought them home as "pets" (my parents wasnt to happy when i brought home snakes, birds, the biggest i ever brought home was a dmg fox which we nursed back to health.).it is more then possible to feed and even petting some of them. most animals are NOT aggressive towards humans, even bears won't normally attack humans unless they feel treatened, got cups or are very hungry. finished up my first suggestion about a mod like discussed in this thread:http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/617368-skyrim-living-world-10/ Edited March 15, 2012 by erebus2075
silven88
I said nothing about wild animals being aggresive. Most wild animals will run the second a human approaches them. And im talking WILD. I wonder just how wild these animals were if you could walk from your house to get to them.
bpestilence
I wouldn't go so far as to be able to pet animals... Unless you are a Bosmer. But animals should not ALWAYS attack you. Then again, if they didn't people would complain about it. People still complain about dragons flying away; they think it is a glitch.
tg08096
DISCLAIMER: 1. This post will have spoilers. If you dont want spoilers dont read please. 2. IMO - only sayin it once The essence of any Elder Scrolls game has always been simple: let you do what you want, and make sure you have fun doing it. . . We don't believe a good role playing game should restrict you from making choices, even if they're bad ones. . . It is in these moments, and thousands of others like them, that you will forget the real world. That's from the introduction to Morrowind. I remember getting goosebumps the first time I read that in its entirety. But it's just not true today. If I go to the Bee and Barb and get close to Talen-Jei, he will either thank me for getting him some amethysts or remind me how much he hates me for beating him up. When I was in the mind of Pelagius III, one of his "emotions" or whatever was attacking his confidence, crying out something like "skyrim belongs to the nords." If I go to buy some things from Arcadia, she has to remind me that she has potions, poultices, salves etc. I find myself mashing the hell out of my left mouse button and actually yelling at the computer until she shuts up. I shop there several times a week. W-T-F Here's a joke: Two people walk into an orphanage - an orphanage - full of children and two adults. One has a bow on her back, the other has a giant greatsword on his hip. Nobody says anything. Not the headmistress, not the assistant, not the kids. They just keep going on about what they were doing as if the two were invisible. The one with the greatsword walks around the back of the headmistress and takes out the greatsword. Nothing, nada, zip, invisible still. He crouches down and then thrusts the greatsword clean through the headmistress's torso. She falls down to the floor. The children cheer for joy, and the assistant politely suggests that the two strangers leave. So they do. This is not funny, but it is indeed a joke. This is not a bug. This is not something I should just overlook. This is piss-poor design. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. Can I do better? No, I cannot. Can the ones who brought us Morrowind do better? You bet your silly ass they can. Please do not misunderstand me, Skyrim has many totally awesome aspects to it. Skyrim is the best game released since oblivion, and will remain the best until Valenwood. The fact is, Bethesda has brought us the best games that can be played, hands down. I as a gamer and loyal fan of the series have seen the best of the best, but I have not lost myself in the world of Skyrim yet, I haven't gotten goosebumps, and I haven't felt the satisfaction I felt when playing morrowind and oblivion. I expect more from Bethesda, I expect their very best when they release a game, and this is not their best. edit: I did not play any of the Fallout games, so please dont quote the best game since OB thing and say what about Fallout. IDK why, was going to and just kinda forgot Edited April 15, 2012 by tg08096

If a hurt fox let people pick it up it'd be coyote food in two days. Either the animals were being fed repeatedly outside that person's house, or he was small enough to not seem threatening as a kid. IDK why, was going to and just kinda forgot Bingo. Your "joke" spoke to what I feel is the Achilles heal of this game. I have caught more grief for dropping an arrow on the ground in Whiterun than I did for decapitating a mouthy orc in the Riverrun Inn. There are massive gaps in how the NPCs react. I recall more depth to these types of situations in FO3. A single arrow vs. a bloody orc head rolling around. I love the game and have logged more hours than I care to admit, which makes me more than qualified to comment on the lack of depth in NPC behavior. archerkb
This is a great thread. I definitely know the feeling that Skyrim's responsiveness could be improved, but I think that people are firstly ignoring how much Skyrim has done towards better responsiveness, and secondly that it's hard to script EVERYTHING. Firstly, maybe I'm naive, but I was kind of in awe when I first walked around Skyrim, and saw the way NPCs reacted to me, like the way guards talked to me based on what kind of weapon I had, and the way NPCs talked to me if I was doing magic within a town, the way they behave if I were to walk around naked, or even the fact that NPCs looked at me when I went near them. Not to mention there are specific scripted behaviours after interactions with some of them.... for example, someone already mentioned talon-jei's responsiveness. Secondly, I think we have to recognize that each of these behaviours have to be coded into the game individually, one by one... and we as players won't ever be satisfied by any amount of scripted behaviour short of infinite. It's EASY for us to come up with specific behaviours that we find ridiculous or that we want to see like, for example, memlapse's joke about the way nobody would react if you drew a greatsword in a classroom full of children, or bpestilence's suggestion that bandits could try to reason with rather than fight high-level players, .... coming up with those specific behaviours is easy, but there are infinitely many of these situations, and Bethesda can only code a certain number of them. So how much more could they have done, short of coding in an infinite number of responses to match the infinite number of behaviours we would like to see? NPCs can't know what they're saying, or arbitrarily generate new conversation, so it's always going to get old after a certain point even if you record and script hundreds of hours of responsive dialogue .. especially in a game that doesn't end. I think they've coded a sufficient number so that we feel immersed, and I don't think we can ask for more than that because anything more wouldn't give them any more bang for their buck, and we'd still be dissatisfied anyway.
