[LE] Editing Texture and Eyes Glow

Hello everyone.

 

I've never posted here, and never tought I would but I need help for something that may or may not be simple to achieve.

 

Just to make sure, is this the right place to post ? If not I apologize. I'm not aiming at creating a mod to release per se, but an altering files for my own use by the way.

So, here's where my trouble lies.

 

I'm trying to edit the eyes of vampires, subject that I think has been brought up a considerable number of time already but I didn't find anything to help me get trough.

 

First, the mods I use : EEO + Dawnguard vampire fixe for EEO ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24273/? + https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69079/? ), BVFE Better vampire fangs and eyes ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38829/? ) as well as BV 8.1 ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9717/? ).

Those are the only mods I have that alter the vampires. They work flawlessly and I don't have any issues.

 

So, what I've done is, I edited the texture from the eyes of BVFE, Eyesvampire_01/02.dds, so as to have the tint I wanted for vampires. Problem was that the eyes changed to green, not what was intended, since it was to be a shade of blue.

So I changed the glow from the Eyes*Gender*vampire.nif, so as to get a new glow tint (the yellow/orange one messing with my new eyes tint).

 

It worked, sort of, my PC did have the right eyes tint, but the NPCs I brought trough consol were still having green eyes. I don't mind having the same eyes for the PC and NPCs but having them green was too weird (nice green by the way).

 

Anyway, I tried multiple combinations of the files, tried to temper a bit but nothing changed.

 

So I finally reverted everything and only modified Eyesvampire_02.dds and Eyesfemalevampire.nif, effectively making the changes I needed but, it's not perfect, every other vampires, apart from Serena (which I have moded by the way : Serenaholic 1.8 + HiRes) since she has her own eyes apart from everyone else.

 

In-game I've made some more test after that, and one of them picked my curiosity.

 

If I bring a Master Vampire (refid : 0003383f) and Volkihar Master Vampire (refid : 0003383e), the MV has green eyes, like he is using the female.nif and eyes02.dds (you can see the blue glow tint from the modified .nif), while the VMV has red eyes like they are supposed to be in the BVFE mod (meaning is apparently using the good male.nif and eyes01.dds).

 

So, yeh, I'm at a loss here. I don't know where the green eyes come from, and I don't know why the results are so different between to male vampire NPC who are supposed (in my limited knowledge) to use the same assets.

 

I'd really appreciate some help. I know I've had this problem in my previous installation of the game but I did manage to make it work (2014). Maybe the BVFE mod does something unique compared to more, let's say, streamline mods that alter vampire eyes ?

(Again, I don't care if it results in every vampire having the same eyes tint, just want to get rid of that (again, beautiful green) :smile:)
