entropiachrome
Hello all! I'm new to TES series as of November, and am also brand new to modding. Through YouTube and printed tutorials, I have been able to navigate my way around the Skyrim Creation Kit enough to do simple changes to existing mods, but my new challenge is to build an entire player home from the ground up. Needless to say, there are some things I have had trouble fining the answers to on my own. :wallbash: My hope is to place questions in this opening post and date them... this way, I can update the questions that have already been answered, and make it clear if there is something new I need a little help with. March 14, 2012: OK, I'm working on lighting... Using WRCandleFlickerNS for candles throughtou the interior, I understand that holding S and moving the mouse will change the light radius, and holding CTRL+ALT+S will change the intensity output. Is there anyplace to edit this manually by putting in numbers? I have different sized candles and chandelliers, and I'd prefer to have the same-sized ones have the same radius and intensity range (rather than having to "eyeball" it with the mouse). Also, any idea how to make items (like a quill or inkwell) static so they CANNOT be picked up? Thanks in advance for your help! reaper9111
1 when you coc to you cell, type: tcl to toggle colision this will allow you to walk to the right place without falling... then reenter: tclOR you can put a XMarkerHeading inside the cell... this will automaticly make your character appear there... 2 once you in is complete go to the exterior (Tamriel) cell you want your house to be... make the outside change (add the building) then put a door, then link your outside door to the inside door 3... by doing step 2 this is useless 4 its possible to rename an exterior cell "lest say " (MyHomeName Farm) but this is not required ! Best of Luck !Reaper Thanks very much for responding! Ok I did the tcl thing, but when I turned it back on I occasionally still fell through the floor, even though they are all connected/no gaps using snap to grid? <EDIT: I guess I should navmesh the space, correct?> I have NO idea how to insert the new cell (building) into the specific area of Tamriel. Edited March 12, 2012 by entropiachrome
reaper9111
ok, when you put the "TCL" back on, make sure your are at least completly above the ground... if your "foot" are still under, you will still fall....If that dosnt solve your falling issue, then the problem is with the ground meshes... (have you modify these ground meshes ?) To edit the Tamriel World (outside world) in the cell window, go up and in the drop down menu select "Tamriel"... then find a good spot to put your "outside" building... Then add a door, and ext ext... As i said earlier !!! (Nav Mesh are for NPC Only) since the player (you) is controling where you are going, the nav meshe exist so your npc wont walk trough wall or try to walk trough a table... ext ! ps if you have Skype..add me (reaper91_11) and i might be able to help you a lil easier... (on that matter) not for your whole mod... hope you understand that i have my whole problems with the CK and that is also time consuming for me as well ! Reaper Ohhh, you said "occasonally", then indeed this is directly related to the fact that not your whole body is OVER the ground when you put the colision (tcl) back on !!!Best of luck! reaper9111
No, the blue, green and red line are only x,y and z axes of the box around the meshes... Those "floor meshes" you are using, did you edit them in any way (beside moving them around, and scaling them in the CK ?If you did edit them (let's say via Nifskope, or Blender for exemple), then you might have a colision problem...If you are using "Vanilla" meshes (those found in game) without any edit, then i dont know what your problem might be !!! Tamb0
Are you using any other types of flooring apart from the ones posted ?

Nope, I just slapped them down as-is, using snap to grid and angle... Are you using any other types of flooring apart from the ones posted ? Nope. Tamb0
Then I would say you have a slight problem. There is one way to fix it, add a collision plane. Click the box along the top With the big C that has a box round it (not the 3D box). Click somewhere on the floor and that sets your collision plane down. Drag the top arrow up slighlty so that you can see it clearly (make sure markers are turned on,...M key). Now turn off the arrows by hitting 2 and the rotate the plane on the X,Y and Z so that it lines up with a corner of your room. Drag it down on the Z axis so that it's just above the floor. When all that's done, hit the key 2 again to turn on the arrow gizmo and grab/drag the arrows to the other side of the room (the corner will remain where it is). All done, you'll now be able to walk on it. Edited March 13, 2012 by Tamb0
entropiachrome
Then I would say you have a slight problem. There is one way to fix it, add a collision plane. I think I found the problem...I tested again last night, and made note of the specific areas I was falling through. It seemed to be the CorIn01 and CorIn02 squares causing the problem, so I did some rearranging and replaced them. I just tested the floor and all seems fine now without the collision plane. That said, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to explain how to make one, as I may very well need to do that in the future... thank you!
