stebbinsd
It's extremely unimmersive that my settlements subsist on an exclusively vegan diet. There is totally protein out in the Commonwealth! However, no matter how many brahmin the settlements have, no matter how close they are to the Atlantic coast, and no matter how many mirelurks or radstags you catch using your cage, these sources of protein simply don't boost the settlement's food score. How about a mod that does precisely that? Fishing boats that have to be placed in water, but produce 6 food when a settler is assigned to them? Provisioners you assign will have brahmin accompany them. These brahmin should also provide food, just like cows in the real world. The Wasteland Workshop has cages that you can use to catch various creatures and animals. Some creatures - such as dogs and cats - are merely pets for your settlement and they provide bonus happiness. That makes sense. But you can catch plenty of other creatures as well, many of whom drop meat upon death that you can cook & eat, like Mirelurks, Radstags, and Deathclaws. You need a beta wave emitter to keep them from killing all your settlers, but if you do that, they'll patrol the settlement and fight alongside you in the event of an attack. What if they also provided food for your settlement, just like other farm animals? The amount of food they provide should be proportional to the value of their cooked meat. A Roasted Mirelurk Meat has 40 value, so trapped mirelurks provide 4 food. A Deathclaw Steak has a value of 130 caps, so trapped deathclaws provide 13 food. Trapped Radstags provide 6 food, trapped radscorpions provide 6.5 food, and so on and so forth.
