Pharaun159
Hey guys. Ive been out of the mod making scene since morrowind days. Im thinking about jumping into it again, but with a purpose. Wanted to bounce my idea off you guys so i could get some direction as to what im going to need to tackle to accomplish my goal. The main goal:The goal is to remove casual magic from the game. Not remove all magic. But make it difficult to come by. Basically i want to remove spell tomes from any vendors outside the college, or the dude in morthal. Castle mages will not sell to you unless you are a college member. No starting spells. Bandits will not have casters. Spell tomes will only be found in loot in mage dungeons or purchased. I want you to have to pursue magic. Not find it hibily bibily. Also makes it nice not to have it thrown in your face if you are not playing a mage Sub goal:The sub goal is to make the magic users you do encounter... Devestating. I want it to be so rare and dangerous that when you encounter one thats pissed off..you are like, "holy s#*! a mage... OH f*#@! HES PISSED!" also want to modify the leveled lists in such a way that novice mages have an "unstable varient" that makes their spells damage values vary on each cast with a chance of either way above their level off success or a complete catestrophic failure. Master mages will have higher mana pools and reliable damage. Summoners have higher summon limits. Ect. Tentitive distant goal:Adjust college to delay advancement based on skill level. Especially for the archmage position. Also adjust enchanting. Enchantments will become exceedingly rare and difficult to make. Be the only school of magic that can be learned outside the college. High cost for making Enchantments and not just monetary sacrifices. Id say permanent stat sacrifices. Really make you plan your gear out. So my question to you guys is not weather or not this should be done. But what is the best approach to accompmish this? Clearlyim going to have to be modifying level lists, and spawns. Things that are done by many other mods but not in this way. So ill hAve to keep compatibility in mind. As well as some overhauls. Any additional thoughts?
