behemothcrush3070
Ok so I've had oblivion for the PC for a while now and have been using mods ever since I got it. Recently I've decided to start modding myself. Now I'm trying to take this one step at a time so I've just been messing around with weapons. I'm tempted to say I've got the basics of modding weapons. Not that i can make my own desisgns yet but. Basicly though my question is how can i change the color of weapons? Say i wanted to make an Akaviri katana all red or black or red and black, how would i go about doing this? Help is jurrasticly appreciated. Thanks guys. Vagrant0
you have to retexture it, in other words you have to design your own thingyTo be more specific, you need a program capable of opening, editing, and saving dds files. You also need Nifscope to apply the new texturing. Some tutorials you might find useful. Just treat them as if they were talking about weapons. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...uring_Made_Easyhttp://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...nning_Rudimentshttp://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Retex_Guidehttp://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...mal_Maps_Basics http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...Troubleshootinghttp://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...ifSkope_Alchemy
SpacemanSpIiff
These links i will find useful for a project im working on behind the scenes. But as for the programs you could use, theres GIMP (probably use this one, its FREE and rather powerful) Photoshop (my favorite, although macintosh photoshop cant do .dds) Or paintshop pro (dont know much about this one)
GBHis
He could also use NifSkope to add a shader to the model (would probably be a lot easier).
Vagrant0
He could also use NifSkope to add a shader to the model (would probably be a lot easier).Shaders, material changes, or vertex coloring can work too, but don't always turn out as reliably as textures. They also apply to the whole mesh, so generally don't work too well for weapons. Those kinds of changes are better suited for your sort of special, one of a kind item, or static, and usually have some different textures involved anyway.
