bensniper8
If you clicked on this thanks for giving me a chance to get this idea out of my head. So if you're like me and a lot of other nexus users we seem to enjoy our companion mods for skyrim, like we really seem to enjoy them. The amount of amazing companion mods available for skyrim is absolutely awesome. However the same can not be said for Fallout 4, if you were to go look on the nexus right now you would only find 4-8 true stand alone fully voice acted companion mods. Of that amount of mods there's really only one that's truly exceptional and that would be the Heather Casdin mod. As i was searching for companion mods with little success i got to thinking about why there was such a shortage of these companion mods, and the answer is the voiced protagonist of fallout 4. It's harder to create dialogue between the protagonist and the modded companion because there's only so many voice lines to pull from for the protagonist to use. Which finally brings me to the mod idea. A full replacer of all in game voice lines, to clarify have a dedicated team re voice act the in game protagonist lines to as near as possible to the original. However with the new voices it would be possible at least in theory to use the same voice actors in new companion mods, so instead of recycling old voice lines from the game the modder's could reach out to the mod team of the voice replacement and get their voice actors to voice some new lines to create new dialogue between the companion and the protagonist. Big task? Definitely however I believe it's a task that's crucial for the evolution of Fallout 4 modding. I have no Idea how to do any of this but i'd be willing to learn if anyone is crazy enough to undertake this task. If i've overlooked anything or if anyone is interested in developing or even just talking about it please feel free to voice your opinions. insectmethod
I feel like silent dialogue subtitles do the same job you're outlining with less effort, but still, it would be real cool. Honestly, even setting companion mods aside, a protagonist re-voice would be pretty rad. With some solid voice-acting direction and quality control, an array of different protagonist voices could be fun - and really good for representation, too. One issue I was thinking of while I read your post was that it'd be a lot of work to have someone re-voice the protagonist only for them to disappear off the face of the internet a year later and not be available to lend their voice to mods, which kind of defeats the point (and this does happen often, to my understanding). But, the more people doing a re-voice, the larger the chance that somebody might stick around to voice for mods as well. Like maybe a companion mod could list names of users who did voice acting? For example, companion mods could include "Compatible with <name of protagonist voice mod>" if they have voice acted parts or something? And the rest, or vanilla protag, could just be subtitles. Just my two cents. (disclaimer: I know next to nothing about modding hdfjg) Edited October 25, 2017 by insectmethod
