HELP - Import and Export Items using CS

Say you have a list of items in the object window in a mod i.e custom clothes/weapon/armor etc. each with custom meshes, textures and icons. Is it possible to export all these items to a completely seperate mod using CS. I could do it by creating new items in the new mod and adding the textures, meshes and icons to each item one by one but this would be very time consuming, there must be a better way. I know that i can combine loaded plugins but this can carry over alot of unwanted mod info as well.

Please Help, I've looked on CS Wiki but cant seem to find anything.

First off, anything like this would require permission to use those items from the original author before you can upload or give the mod to anyone.

That said, there are two methods, and they both require some idea about what you are doing.

The first is to merge the mods, and just remove those parts that you don't want to include (cells, leveled lists, npcs) by clicking "details" when you go to load the newly merged mod, then selecting those things you want to remove and hitting the delete key.

The second method uses a less user firendly tool called TESsnip (google it, I don't have the link). You can use this to copy individual groups from one mod into the other. However this can cause some unwanted problems since those items may have scripts or other aspects which tie them to other parts of the mod.

Since most large clothing mods aren't resources, it usually makes more sense to just define a new entry in the CS that links to those items that you actually plan to use. Of if you're just looking cheat yourself those items, you could just edit the original mod to add a container somewhere for you.

:thanks: Both of those methods work really well, although like you said you need to have your wits about you especially when using TESsnip.

Don't worry I had no intentions on stealing anyones meshes or textures but this would still be usefull if I got permision or wanted to move my own items from mod to mod.

I was using the alternative method you sugested by combining plugins and adding a container somewhere. However 3 or 4 clothing/weapon mods later this was getting a little messy to keep track of everything and making sure I didnt have any overlapping mods or full blown clashes. (I'm not sure if haveing mods overlap matters too much but doesnt sound like it's good practice).

I was expecting the process to have something to do with the import/export options in the file menu. What are these for?

Also I understand the priciple of combining plugins but what is ment by 'create difference plugin' and 'create filtered difference plugin'? Sorry if this going off on a tangent slightly.

Thanks Again that really helped.
