CheshireTrans
So, late last night I decided I was tired of immersion breaking dialogue. I'm running heavy rp characters, with backstories and relationships, but I really can't get into it if every guard says "hands to yourself, sneak-thief every time I come close. Moreover, unless it makes sense for the guards to know me, I don't want them to. Being a member of the companions, or a thane, sure, it makes sense for the guards to know, but I don't want them commenting on me being a thief, college mage, or dark brotherhood assassin unless it's even remotely possible that they'd know. "You're one of them mages at the college?" How the f*** do you know whats going on in f***ing winterhold, Markarth Guard? "Is it true, you're with the dark brotherhood?" The dark what? You mean those assassins who cover their faces in a cowl and are completely unrecognisable, even to the select few penitus occulotus agents who know about me? Unless I've been caught and jailed, no guards outside riften should know i'm a thief, and even with the riften guard that assumes they're either on the payroll, or that I was and idiot and roughed up the townsfolk for brynjolf without covering my face. As for regular npc's, I think it would be best if the only spoke when spoken to, unless i've done a quest for them or something to give us a familiarity... though I'm mostly spitballing there. Mostly, I don't want the world to revolve around me. I don't want every guard to know that I am skilled in alchemy, I don't want random npcs to ask me if I've tried mercenary work (I love you amren, but you know I'm a companion right?) I read through Guard Dialogue Overhaul, it seems like I'd be able to shut them up about skills, but does it remove faction based quearies too? Can I set the skill options to something so arbitrarily high that my character can never reach them? Also, this is more of a request, but is there a mod that lets me play in skyrim as if the main quest has already been completed? edit: I forgot one more thing... Is there any way to make the random encounters with Assassin's, Dawnguard, or mercenaries sent to beat you down for stealing so that they are realistic? There can't be hundreds of expendable assassins, how do the dawnguard know, that orc in markarth can't possibly know I stole the steel from her shop, why does she? Thenryb
Relationship dialogue overhaul allows you to configure what npcs comment on, how close you have to get to them before they speak, etc. I find the repetitive, inane comments so boring that I also use No NPC Greetings. I do not want any of them talking to me unless I click on them.
CheshireTrans
Doing some research on my own, it seems Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul reduces the chances that they'll say anything to you... Including guards. I've downloaded it and I'm currently installing my whole list from scratch to prevent any conflicts with some changes I've made. I'll update if I feel like it does what I'm looking for. I've also downloaded The Choice is Yours, which stops the forced quests, giving you the option to outright refuse some, and stopping quests like hearing about the College or Civil War factions and being told to join in. Still looking for some of the other stuff, but I've spent hours on this and would like to get some actual gameplay in today.
