Coranth
Hey all, Is there a modification for Oblivion that will allow you to learn spells from spell scrolls that you find in dungeons? And yes, before you all go off at me about the official "Spell Tomes" plug in, I know about that! However, I don't want to install that plug in; I want to be able to learn those lovely spells straight up from the scrolls I find! Is there a mod out there that will allow this for Oblivion? If not, how easy would it be to create such a mod for Oblivion, and could it be done. Imagine this... you're a reasonably powerful Mage, and you're making your way through an Ayleid Ruin. After defeating a powerful 'boss' monster, such as a vile Netherlich, you spy a chest that the creature was guarding. After opening the ('Hard') lock via your security skill, or the proper Alteration spell, you find within the chest a wealth of loot/items, etc ... and among those items is a spell scroll, containing a spell you can learn. IRL, you click the scroll with your mouse... and at that point, a simple menu appears, with the choices, 'Pick Up' and 'Learn.' Click 'Pick Up' and things are as normal, the scroll is removed from the chest and placed in your inventory. When it's in there, you can click it, and the menu choices are 'Learn' or 'Drop'; obvious. Here's where it gets interesting. When you click 'Learn' -- and you're the right level and have the proper amount of Magicka -- you'll "learn" the spell. It'll be scribed into your spell book (permanently added to your available spells) but be wary, if you transfer the magical essence of a spell scroll into your book, the process will forever destroy the scroll; it will vanish from the container or your inventory. Is there something like this for Oblivion? Could you good people make it? It'd be awesome for a Mage, as now you'd have something to do with all those spell scrolls you find. (This same thing would also work with scrolls you buy from merchants, but only when the scrolls are in your inventory.) ***This mod, if made, would have course be compatible with 'Spell Delete' Mods***
fantasyjam
It doesn't really add any fun to the game, and really, what would the scrolls add to the realism? When you buy a spell, you're essentially paying to be taught, and it simply skips the training process.
