DuSable Posted March 13, 2012 Share Posted March 13, 2012 An odd thought occured to me when I was playing New Vegas earlier. Pretty much it was about how Nipton somehow remained empty after the Legion 'Lottery' incident. I know that the Courier is just one person, but they come across all kinds of other 'one persons' during their travels. Why not a mod where the the fires are put out, the corpses cleared out, the debris cleaned up and you go from location to location in the mojave looking for people suitable for your own personal town? You (of course) gain the Mayor's office as 'owned', perhaps getting things like a bed, water purifier, workbench and reloading bench in the back room as you can purchase them, and a weekly salary wouldn't go amiss. While you can probably just gain Karma from inviting random people from places like freeside to live there, there are no doubt a number of 'loose end' characters that really could use a fresh start. Seeing as Boxcars is stuck in the General store anyways, giving him Two Medical Braces and two Crutches and five Stim-packs (or a MEdical Skill check of 60) will be sufficent to bribe him to give up his life as a powder-ganger and be the local merchant. The unemployed Deputy Beagle could be brought in as a 'Security Consultant' with a speech check of 40 or one Sunset Sasparilla deputy badge. Companions Veronica Renata Santangelo or Raul Alfonso Tejada might be convinced to take up perminant residence in the repairman's house selling services repairing things. You know... stuff like that. Heh. Would be funny to have every time you walk through town people say "Good Morning Mayor." or "Hey! It's the Mayor" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wanted to do exactly like what you have written here (though in my opinion there should be a way other than horrible amounts of separate mods to help improve most settlements in some way) I was struck by the fact that if old school games like Dragon Warrior let you take over an abandoned settlement and expand on it/recruit people to set it up; why couldn't a newer vastly more impressive game? On top of that, it spruces up the town completely and makes it appear as though the NCR rolled through and rebuilt Nipton. The mod is called Bondsters Nipton Rebuilt.
