[Texture help] How to/is it possible?

Hello there, I am seeking a quick answer for a small concern about the suns dds file.

So I am playing around with the Sun texture and at first I was quite new to the idea of texture edits, but a bit of experimenting with gimp (I don't have photoshop anymore thanks to a system restore and lack of internet) I found out about alpha and black.

QUESTION________

Is it possible to have transparency and black on the sun texture at the same time?

If it helps I was attempting the Dark Sign sun from dark souls 3. Also a black hole or eclipse.

I see armor textures that aren't read like this(they are black but not transparent) I am a total idiot when it comes to textures in game. I have a mild/novice understanding of photo editing.
