ThatOneGirl
Hello, first of all I would like to say that I am extremely new to creating mods, but have been using them for years now. I'm more familiar with TES5edit but not so much the Creation Kit. Spoilers for Companions Quest: So I am trying to create a mod that switches Aela the Huntress' war paint, hairstyle and outfit after Skjor is killed by the Silver Hand in the companions' quest. The Mod is supposed to give the illusion that Aela is heavily impacted by the death of Skjor so much so that she replaces her default warpaint with a more "fierce", intimidating one. She also switches hairstyles to a more "ready for combat, out of your face hairstyle". Also wanted to change her outfit but haven't figured out to what yet. But hopefully you can understand what I'm going for here. Is there any way in the Creation Kit to have an existing NPC's appearance change during a playthrough? I am trying to get it so that Aela's appearance change is triggered after she returns to Jorrvaskr from Gallows Rock. Any help would be much appreciated. nerdofprey
Since this happens "off screen" it would be possible to disable her at that stage and swap in a different NPC for the remainder of the playthrough. I'm not sure how that might complicate quests, dialogue and scripts that point to her reference ID or base ID. I absolutely know it could be done, but I'm not sure how complicated it would be in the end; that would probably involve a number of edits to the quests. I have never tried this, and I'm not sure if anybody else has, but it seems like it might be possible to create a facegen mesh/texture for the new appearance and implement it as an armor object that the character equips. That way it would be the same reference of the same NPC, but with a new face, and all it would take is a little script to change the character's default outfit. Might be worth a shot.
