Advice? Going from OOO to fran's

I ve been playing with OOO for a bit now (Im level 9 now), and while it seemed a great idea at first, i ve been thinking more and more of switching to frans. the thing is I like sidequesting quite a bit, but i dont want the main story quest to become incredibly easy because of this, or to be strolling in half of the places with too much ease when i ve doubled my level, and the fact of having to keep track of those 4 or 5 places were i ll need to be extremely strong to go in is not the best idea i could think of(specially since there s no in-game journal writing that im aware of...is there a mod for this?) I thought I could eventually that I could probably just play with the difficulty settings when im annoyed by this, but im not sure if frans may be the way to go... . And ofcourse, im aware that there s also FCOM, but, while very appealing, the idea of having to reinstall everything from scratch taking me another 2 days of installing etc, and of having to learn to use well another utility(wyrebash, wish you could use it with OMM) which would take even more time, are factors wich really make me stay away from it for now.

Any advice concerning the transiton for more experienced players/modders?

I was wondering something similar. I have played the game through twice without either Frans or OOO but I am considering using one and starting a new character. What exactly are the differences between them and does anyone recommend using one over the other. I don’t really want to use both partly because of the massive installing process with FCOM and also I think one mod would add enough changes for the time being anyway.

Or would using either be compete herecy?

well, you are in a modding forum, so i doubt you ll find many purists here ;) , if you want a description of their main features check this site http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.ph...=820948&hl= , it has the main descriptions of them.

Im just looking for adviced from people who ve actually tried both :) , or could guide me concerning the eventual annoyance of being too high levelled(eventually). i was actually thinking about keeping on with OOO for a while and then switching to frans if the challenge s gone, any opinions on this? would there be savegame issues?

If you switched to Frans, you would still have to reinstall, and probably start over again just because of how much OOO changes.

As for differences, Didn't see much of Frans myself, but what I did see wasn't too much to write home about. Although the spawns in the world aren't leveled any more, this is more of a hazard for lower level people than it is for higher leveled ones. Further, I don't think Frans adjusts dungeons, or spawns the way OOO does. The easiest solution is to just not be so uber, or to stop expecting a challenge once you start maxing out skills, and have high level stuff. No matter how hard someone tries to make something, there is always a way for the player to be much stronger. Even if you decide to fill the world with things that can hit for over 800 health.

I read the link you posted Elotrocoso and it was very helpful thanks :). Seems as if Frans essentially keeps the levelling system but also gives more variety, where OOO just throws levelling system out the window altogether (I know this is an extreme, black and white way of looking at it). So I think I'll probably give Frans a go. Sorry I know this isn't of much help to you Elotrocoso.

Play both! and Martigens. FCOM made Oblivion a whole new game for me. It's really not as hard to install as you think. Wrye Bash is NOT difficult to use. I'm telling you, it's the way you want to go.

If you follow the directions properly you won't have to start a new game. Use Wrye Bash to "Update" NPC levels and you should be fine.

The only problem I've witnessed is that loads take a little longer and chests take a little longer to open.
