Ellen the Cartographer - post-Quincy quest, maxed affinity, no Romance option

Completed Quincy quest
Passed initial "flirt" charisma dialogue check
Kept playing
Maxed affinity/idolizes

No additional dialogue to Romance popped up. She just kept saying "best friend" and all.

I know a lot of players have had this problem in past versions.

I'm using the final version however and the problem still persists I think. Some players have mentioned that this might be because Ellen's affinity skyrockets a lot to the point that you'll end up skipping on some parts of her romance.

I've tried these:

- resetting/starting quests = I can't get any of these to work; does anyone know the correct quest id's or stages
- lowering affinity and doing a positive action = also did not work; dropped affinity to a lower level, increased it via console -and- also did actions in-game, but was not getting new dialogue options

- setav CA_WantsToTalkRomanceRetry 1

It did work for a bit - I got the dialogue options to hear her stories, and even got the pop-up that she had max affinity and I got the "Explorer" perk. Unfortunately, the perk does not show up at all on the menu/list. My guess is because there are probably a few more quest steps and I missed out on those? I'm not sure.

Anyway, looking for help from anyone.

 

What console commands can I use to fix this?

- Example: Is there a way to remove the "idolize" tag to reset NPC behavior? I used AFT to check her relationship stat and it says she idolizes me even though I've lowered her affinity via console.

Will uninstall/reinstall work?

What can I do to prevent the same issue from occurring if I do a reinstall?
