and00r
Hello all,I'm beginning to look into modding for Skyrim, I may have a few things I wish to try, but before I really get into it, I would first like to know some of the general limitations of Creation Kit and Papyrus; what you can and cannot do.For example, I wish to change the dragon behavior. I don't want dragons to fly around, I don't wish to chase them in the air, I wan't the dragons to be pure melee beasts, or perhaps only use limited flight because they really are big and don't seem geared for long distance flight. Is this possible? How exactly would I go about doing this? I also wish to remove that silly screaming sound they make, but I'm already sure this would be possible. Thanks. and00r
anyone? is the 32bit version of skyrim more popular in terms of visitors to its forum?
Niborino9409
I'm not so sure if making them stop flying is doable, or it probably is, but I don't think they can move on the ground very well. and00r
I'm not so sure if making them stop flying is doable, or it probably is, but I don't think they can move on the ground very well. they can,my direct plan is actually to have them swoop down on you and land about 10 or so yards infront, then chase you on foot, without any of the ridiculous cheap dragon screaming which is a dead giveaway of this games true target audience (12 year old children on ps3/xbox)or any of the fire. I actually want the fireball (not the fire breath) to be a single powerful rare attack only used in certain situations. ... These are my ambitions
and00r
Can someone please better-explain, in detail, the limitations of CK and Papyrus, and even SKSE, please.I don't believe this should be too difficult for any seasoned modder! and00r
Will I be able to get more help as a premium member? I don't have any issues with becoming one... I just would like faster/better results for some of the questions I will surely have coming up.
JonathanOstrus
Will I be able to get more help as a premium member? I don't have any issues with becoming one... I just would like faster/better results for some of the questions I will surely have coming up. Becoming a premium member does not directly influence most people to offer or withhold helping. The lack of help, or speed it is given, usually has to do with the question and title of a topic. The topic title "Editing Dragons" doesn't really help one figure out what the content of the topic is. Sure the basis is exactly that. But something more like "I need help figuring out how to change dragon behavior" might catch people more interested or at least knowledgable about the subject. Sometimes it's just a matter of people not seeing the post right when you start it. Like myself, I've been working 7 days a week with little free time so I didn't see it until just now. A simple way to make a dragon stop flying, or disallow them from taking off is to use the SetAllowFlying() function. See the wiki page here https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=SetAllowFlying_-_Actor You would need to call that from a papyrus script somewhere. You could either put it as a magic effect to a spell that is attached to the base dragon record; or if the dragon is being spawned in a quest you can have it in a quest alias whose alias has the script on it. Depending on what kind of script, and where you attach it will determine which type of event you'll need to trigger on. That's about all I know regarding this subject but I hope it was somehow helpful. I'm just not real familiar with the dragons in Skyrim.
