Can't download newest SKSE patch due to virus detection

Hey guys, first post ever on these forums. Been downloading mods and dropping endorsements for years. I've recently got back into playing Skyrim again and haven't had any issues with any of my mods or SKSE until today.

When downloading the "Current SE build 2.0.5" my Windows Protection cancels it out and reports of a trojan file titled *Win32/sprisky.D!cl*. Wondering if anyone else is having this problem or if I should proceed with allowing my anti-virus to make an exception to this. Thanks in advance.

Did you download from silverlock.org or from a third party download site? I downloaded the file and ran both Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes on it and found no problems. I assume you have Windows 10 and Windows Defender, which basically is built in Microsoft Security Essentials, detected the Trojan.

This is a known Trojan and any Microsoft anti-virus would have it in its data base as would Malwarebytes. The only thing I can think of is that you either downloaded it from a third party download site, something that you should never do, or ti is a false positive.

I would not attempt to run the file until you have more info on what the problem is. I suggest you google "Win32/sprisky, one of the links that you will see is a link to Microsoft which will give you more information.

http://skse.silverlock.org <--- this is the site I'm using, haven't had any issues with downloading an update until this version. Yes, you are correct, my windows 10 defender detected this and won't let it run.

Thanks for your input, I'll do more research on it and even email the devs to see if they have any advice for me. I don't wanna take the chance on a false positive just yet.

Good thinking. If you do find out what the problem is perhaps you could post it here for others to see who might run into the same problem.

I am curious myself.

I have the same problem, my skse can't detect the skyrim exe because it was deleted somehow(not by me). Steam won't allow me to verify cache because of "corrupt update data". I can't re download skse from their site because of the trojan Peals.f!cl. My windows security thing acted up when i clicked the skse launcher at first, with the same trojan. because of this i decided to verify cache. At this point i'm f*#@ed and confused. I can't even start the game now. I can't download SKSE FROM THEIR WEBSITE. PLEASE SEND HELP

Also anytime I try to update Skyrim Special Edition it now triggers the Security thing as that same trojan, is my game infected with a virus or is this a shitty false positive?

Hi

Get a better antivirus software.

I use G Data. I does not get in my way.

Most Internet security people I know only use window defender. That is all I use on my gaming only PC. Every 6 months I pull the drive & run a G Data Scan on it. I have never found a virus.

It has visited silverlock.org many times & have never had an issue.
