trotter6944
I've recently started playing Skyrim again because when I first got the game back in November I had such a lag problem that I couldn't get interested it. I'm still having the same problems as I did back then. I've updated my .ini files and tried increasing the ram usage limits but these haven't helped me at all. My biggest problem is that I have a huge lag during gameplay. When attacking with a sword, I'm pretty much only using power attacks. Using fraps I've seen that my fps is only about 8-12. I'm thinking that this is way too low for a game of this magnitude. Is there something that I can do to fix this lag issue? My computer has a amd athalon ii x2 250 processer, 8 gig of ram, ati radeon 3000 graphics card. Please help.
RitualBlack
What card in the 3000 series are you running as that will be the determining factor of whether you should be able to run the game or not. If you have a 3670+ you should be able to sit around 25-30ish on medium settings with a tweaked .ini. 8-12 fps is far too low to for fluid gameplay in any game. Ideally you want to sit around 45-60 fps (Skyrim caps you at 60) so when there are spikes you still don't experience framerate problems but anywhere from 25+ average is good enough. What settings are you currently playing the game at?
trotter6944
Everywhere I look for the actual graphics card number, it's only a 3000. Sadly, I'm running on the lowest detail possible and I still have the choppiness.
