Fallout didn't update, or not fully. Advice appreciated

Firstly, if anyone can offer me some advice or tips that's be great

So with the latest update of Fallout causing it's dramas I'd set about trying to make sure I'd done everything I needed before playing. It'd had been a few days so I assumed ( 1st mistake ) that Fallout would've updated through Steam. 1st thing I did was download F4se 1.10.40 - build: 0.6.1 and replace the files of the previous version. Then when going to launch I received an error message about Looks menu, went to Nexus & discovered there was an update, installed that & assumed everything was good to go.

âBut :( when launching via F4se I get an error message saying that I'm using Fallout Version 1.10.26 which is of course incompatible with the latest version F4se. Now this is where my limited knowledge, and being a noob is a burden....I've checked steam, and can't find anywhere that mentions I require an update, or anywhere to begin an update. One thing I've noticed when I was replacing the F4se files is that there are 2 files in steamapps/common/Fallout 4 that have been modified in the last few days. 1 is "Fallout4.ccc modified 8/11/17 at 5 am, and the other is CreationKitPrefs modified 12/11/17 at 5:08 am. I also noticed in steamapps/downloading there is a folder "377160" also modified 12/11/7 at 5:08 am

âI do know that I accidently launched the creation kit earlier on the 12th, but simply closed it again.

âFallout will launch normally (ver 1.10.26) but obviously since I have a later ver of F4se I can't launch it that way or use any mods associated. So I'm stuck with what to do.

âShould I go back and install the version of F4se and looks menu that are compatible with my game version and go with the flow until the next update?

âOr do I update my version of Fallout, and if yes is there an update button on steam :/

âAnd are the recently modified files I mentioned above anything to do with Fallout not updating, or at least fully?

âAny help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Another Noob
