Dead is dead mod

I'm unsure of difficulty of my request, but I would really like to see a mod that deletes all of a characters save files immediately after death. at a basic level the mod would only have to perform the former request. at a slightly more advanced level id like to see that same mechanics plus additional features like a sort of stats log thats recorded as you play so you can see what your live or dead characters have been through. quick travel will be disabled of course. ultimately id like the mod to be kept simple and clean to sort of set a standard for dead is dead style of play. im thinking of something like an option when you select "new game" at the main menu you can choose "standard" or "dead is dead". where standard will be what vanilla skyrim already is with the ability to save and load at will regardless of numbe rof character deaths "dead is dead" will obviously disable or delete loading of any save files for that specific character at the first death. i think a really cool feature would be to have a website/forum synced to your d.i.d. character that updates every time you load or save your d.i.d. game so the community can your status or even some stats. another idea is to not restrict users of this mod to a global difficulty, but add a locked difficulty so you cant change it after youve created your character. essentially if your ein the mood to play skyrim on a hardcore dead is dead setting you would start a new game on dead is dead mode, select your difficulty, create your character and SHAZAM youre in skyrim with one life to live.

p.s. ive already played my first d.i.d. character and i love the way it changes what you do in the game, and the choices you make. i get a whole new feeling of excitement as a gamer from this style of play.

Older post, but I found myself looking for the same thing. Rather than create a new topic about it, I thought I'd just support this thread.

A strategy game called X3:Terran Conflict has the same feature (if purchased on Steam). It is a really hardcore game mode, especially on higher difficulty settings. But nothing feels more rewarding. Someone, please give this a thought. :)

Hardcore mod might i notice. I, myself make a rule in an RPG - don't die, or if dead - load your first ever savegame (one second after character creation) but in the end, i don't follow that rule any more. Even though it would be extremely hardcore for me cause i play with realism enhancing mods so dieing is way more easy than in vanilla skyrim, i'd still want to see this mod coming out.

Just a small correction - i would like this mod to be available not only for new players but for progressed players as well.

What do you mean? You don't want to have to start a new game in order to use this mod?

Good. I've been restarting as well, though admittedly cheated death a time or two when I couldn't bear to restart. That's really why I need this mod to happen, to help me grow past these moments of weakness and actually become a 'great' player.

My suggestion is that you do not delete the saves, but rather make it so that death causes previous saves to be edited to remove certain types of progress toward goals and already achieved equipment.

Delete the enchantments off of a random half of the player's gear.

Delete all progress toward the next level.

Delete the progress made toward building the next phase of their house.

Delete some of the players stats and/or perks. (similar to jail time)

Randomly cause one or more followers to simply wander off.

This would provide consequences to death, short of having to start all over again.

Also, it would not be accomplished by editing the saves themselves, but having a store of what changes to make, stored outside the game in a support text file, via a mod driven script, which affects ANY save game reloaded.
