Dragonlance Chronicles conversion?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, I'm new to the forums, and to TES entirely in a lot of respects. I'm wondering if anybody else has ever seen the possibility for a conversion of Skyrim into the Dragonlance Chronicles. The world is probably roughly the same size in Tamriel as in Krynn, and there are certainly enough maps within the lore to show what the continent looked like. I've been watching a lot of mod videos on YouTube, and the more I play on my PS3, soon to be upgrading to PC version to play with mods, the more I can just see things that could be easily swapped over to be part of the DragonLance Lore. There are dragons that can have distinct colors and confined to certain areas, Dragonscale armor is perfect for an Argonian mod with wings to make Draconians, it wouldn't be impossible to alter the different existing races into the races of Krynn, and it would be possible to do storyline progression in certain areas.

 

That was the biggest issue I could think of was how to best experience the different aspects of the books while not being completely confined. I was thinking of laying out the different regions and either using terrain or walls to block the player from leaving the designated region/area. There could still be different towns and encounters that weren't part of the books just to keep the adventure fresh, but having a semi-linear progression would combine some old school feel into the newer game. Obviously fast travel wouldn't be possible until the late-game, if at all. But it would be possible to switch characters, or stick with a "main character" for each I guess chapter. For most of the first book, the story followed Tanis, so he could be the "main character", or the game could let you switch between the different important characters, who would add commentary based on situation and party makeup (like Raistlin and Caramon would interact and show brotherly squabbles, and Raistlin's lust for power). It could even let you take control of non-integral characters, like becoming Laurana instead of Sturm when he fights the dragon in Dragons of Winter Night, to give a different perspective. There's also the times Tas wanders off. I'm assuming if you're reading this post, you're familiar with Dragonlance Chronicles, so pardon my lack of backstory. I just think its possible and it would be really cool to do something like that.

 

This is all something I'm just dreaming up at the moment, but if feedback is positive, I would love to undertake something like this. Or if anyone has done it already, to support their work. Thanks for any feedback or input about my ramblings.
