rukenninjai
PC Stats I5 7600K OC 5.0GHz Water Cooled TT 3.0 AIO16GB Corsair 3200MHz DDR4 RamAsus ROG Hero VIII MoboAsus Rog Strix GTX 1080 SLI So, It dosen't matter if I have the game running on one GPU or in SLI my FPS is all over the place downtown and the drop are causing major stuttering issues. And I mean not just down into the 40's and up...like down to 7fps and then it jumps. System isnt throttling any so I have no clue. A while back with ENBoost and a couple other tweaks I had the game running smooth as silk with a minimal drop downtown and no stutter. I stepped away from the game during the summer and when I came back I had to reinstall the game as some files became corrupted somehow. I performed a clean install and mirrored my previous settings and now this issue. I tried another clean install with the same results. Its a damn shame because I like the game. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am running an older monitor with on a 60Mhz refresh rate but I can imagine thats whats causing my issue seeing as its the same monitor I was using before. Anyone with a similar setup have any tweaks that worked for them? Edited November 16, 2017 by ninjai_ruken
Majic7
My system, 980TI, 4790k, W10 Pro, Dell Gsync 144 hz monitor. You should not be seeing such low fps. I get 80 to 98 in Diamond City and 70 to 90's in the city. It took a while to get stable without stutters. Tried reinstalling numerous times to no avail. What I finally found was checking the F4 install folder after uninstalling and clearing out all the leftovers. Uninstalling didn't clear everything there. Smooth as butter everywhere now. Lowest I have seen is 55 to 58 following Dogmeat in the forest for the Kellogg quest. I have more than a few graphic mods. And before anyone starts on the can't run above 60 fps b.s. the game was released with unlimited fps. They didn't do that just to fool with people. I have never ran a Beth game over 60fps on a 60hz monitor so I can't give any opinions or experience on that. I have a 60hz IPS monitor that I have ran F4 on. Thank you for the fast reply. One thing I noticed is that sometimes when I start the game. Just in the startup screen and even in the main menu it stutters with bad FPS. Tried running on a single GPU and even switched them both out with the same issue. I just got done playing COD WWII at Max graphical settings and I have no problem running smooth at 60fps. Hell even GTAV has no issues. Ill keep messing around with it. Its just frustrating when everyone else running 1080's on a single, SLI or hell even 1070 are capped at 60 all day long with no issues. Majic7
Depending on what OS you are running, W10 can't do this, I am running 373.06 drivers per internet bs? that says these are the best drivers for F4. Switched to Pro so I could run the drivers I wanted to. W10 grannies you to the latest drivers.
rukenninjai
I'm running WIN10 Pro, it's crazy that so many other Graphic Intense games run just fine. But fallout 4 that came out so long ago even struggles with a 1080.
rukenninjai
Had a couple of people say that even with the 5Ghz OC my GPUs might be bottlenecked by the 7600k because of how GPU intensive the game is. I have access to a I7 7700K time to do a little test
Majic7
That may help. I play at 2560 by 1440 and when I had RivaTuner and Afterburner installed I think I was at about 30 to 40% on four threads and 5 to 6% on the other 4. Uninstalled them because of more internet bs? that said F4 didn't get along with them. I should have kept that first day one install, got to level 40 without a single issue when the game first came out. Switched to W10 and nuked everything. Fiddled with F4 ever since then. Only reason I am playing now is the Heather companion mod. Hear she rags on Piper, should be interesting. Love Llama's companion mods.
Majic7
One more thing to try is disable Real Time Protection if you have Malwarebytes installed when you play. The same with Windows Defender. It re-enables after a while on Defender, don't know how long it takes. Neither one seemed to help me much, Malwarebytes disabling made some difference, enough that I uninstalled it. It was more micro-stuttering that it caused.
rukenninjai
Cool, thanks for the info. So this is what happened. Installed 7700k OC to 5Ghz ran stress tests and cinebench. 1055 score one cine and temps stayed in the low 70c. Booted up Fallout 4. FPS in downtowb Chicago on average was 51-55fps with minimal droops but it would still micro stutter and drop to 7 about every 45-60sec. Went in and disabled SLI dedicated second GPU to physX only and now it struggles to not shoot over 60.
