dragonmaster1138
So I've decided to delete a lot of the mods I don't have installed, or quests that I never use, so I deleted them. However, I'm getting crash to desktop a lot. It is still listing the deleted mods in NMM's plugin section, in Loot, and in FNIS. Is there a specific reason why? I uninstalled the files, then deleted them, so I can't understand it?

Despite whatever you THINK you have deleted.
wfandrews
How did you delete the mods? If you want to delete those mods manually go to C:/Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim this is where NMM stores your mods by default. Just drag and drop the mod to your Recycle Bin. This still does not answer the question of why you could not delete the mods with NMM. I have always found the easiest way is to highlight the mod then right click on it and choose Uninstall and Delete this mod Permanently or words to that effect. When you uninstall a mod all that does is remove the mod from Skyrim/Data it is still in C:/Games etc.
dragonmaster1138
Yes, I did right click and uninstall/delete from there. I will try seeing if the files are still somewhere in there though.
dragonmaster1138
Well, a lot of the files were still there, so I deleted them. Some are still missing from the folder when I search for them, but are still listed as there. At this point it may just be best to delete the folder and start over, lol. wfandrews
The only places I can think of where mod files are kept is C:/Games/Nexus Mod Manager/, Skyrim/Data, and Skyrim/Data/SKSE. Really do not know where or how FINIS handles its files. Perhaps if fore is still keeping an eye on this thread he can give you an answer for that. As you say at this point you would probably be better off starting from scratch. You might think about using one of the guides to making Skyrim vanilla again. There are a number out there and just pick the one which you are most comfortable with.
dragonmaster1138
hmm. Never considered that. I basically just figured I'd get my presets out of the folder, into a separate folder, uninstall NMM, and skyrim and re-install. I know which mods I liked, and most of the ones I'd want to keep I downloaded before I knew how to install without doing so.
