Ren's Beauty Pack

Recommended Posts

Your English is better than many of the native speakers I have helped.

A load order is the order that Oblivion loads the mods. Unfortunately, the order that the data shows may not be the actual load order. To get a true load order list, I recommend OBMM, (Oblivion Mod Manager) by Timeslip, available from his site, here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/current/obmm.zip

Load order can be important when more than one mod changes the same thing. In that case, the last mod loaded will supersede any previous mod and take control of that thing.

Often by moving the mod you are having trouble with down in the load order, it will take control from the other mod. OBMM allows you to move mods up or down in the load order.

It has many more functions, It is not a mod, but a separate program that must be started before Oblivion. Read the readme that comes with it for instructions on installing and running it.

Many mods can affect the hair in the game, not all are hair mods. any mod that does anything with the hair slot on characters or NPCs can cause a problem. I am not familiar with most of the German mods, however, a few have been translated into English.

Other mods that can affect Rens Beauty pack may include any other mod that changes a character's appearance or eyes. Such as another face mod. (the original version of Beautiful people is one of these) There are several combined mods that include Rens hair with other mods that normally conflict. The latest version of beautiful people 2.7 combines Rens, soyas and several other conflicting mods into one working mod.

I do know that there are several German speaking members of Tesnexus, and if I can't help, hopefully one of them can.

Double posting is when the same person posts the same question twice.

Okay, I'm back.

To clarify, Vanilla Oblivion is when you don't have any mods. Like when you FIRST installed the game.

I don't have shivering isles, but I don't think it would matter that much.

The faces and skins are showing? GREAT! You're making progress. That's exactly what happened with me first. I got the skins and faces, but no hair. So you're doing good.

Okay, this might be odd, but there's a certain download you have to get. If you downloaded the Ren's Beauty Pack mod from the site in its little "download" section next to "comments" and "description", then you have the wrong one.

That beauty pack doesn't include the hairs. Download the mod from the "Mirrors" section of the download page.

Just to be sure, search through your /Oblivion/Data /textures and /meshes for the HAIRS folder. Make sure there are files in those.

umm...if you've got it from that source, then you should be ok.

Also, if you have the TWO separate mods (I downloaded Ren's Beauty Pack and it had one called something like -customracesonly and -hairsonly. I installed both, and when I activated the .esp's, it didn't work. Only activate the /addrace esp. You DO, however, need to install the -hairsonly part of the mod.

If you need me to explain that more, lemme know.

I'd be glad to fill you in extensively.

BBEN46

I'll try the full uninstall/reinstall.

I DID do a "full uninstall" according to the bethesda support people, where I went through the registry and erased any mention of Oblivion's data.

Even after I reinstalled that, it didn't work. That's why I uninstalled it a long time ago.

I've never heard of some of your methods, so even though I'm skeptical, I'll do it.

Like I said, I'm willing to try anything.

i'll get back t you when I'm done.

Thanks.

Well, between us we got Kikihamster working.

I don't understand why your game is crashing though.

Did you start the first time before loading any extra files? even SI or any patches?

Did you start a new game, just as if you were playing for the first time, then make a save?

There is a file called oblivion.ini that is in the folder with the saved games. Be sure that you don't move the old version back until you are sure the game works. When you reinstall, that file is re created.

Again, I have never encountered the fuzzy screen you describe. Could your board be overheating?

hoorah!

I think I understand some german...

GERMAN:

"hurra du hast es geschafft!!!"

UR84N TRANSLATION:

Huray, you have a gift!

I am good. yes. No babelfish necessary.

Kikihamster (love the name), stay in touch. If you need assistance later, PM me!

bben46...

No one understands it so far.

It's killing me.

Yes, I started and made a savegame before adding anything at all. Even patches. I made a save, and played as far as I could until it crashed again.

Yep, I moved it out and everything. Like I said, I followed it step by step, to every detail. I think it's a problem with my video card. When my father had it, it crashed on him, too, but he could get around it. (It didn't crash when he played Oblivion, though. Go figure.) ANYWAY, it crashes all the time. WHen I got it, it was great at first, but after two years I think it's losing itself. I won't be getting a new one anytime soon, so I may just have to get over it.

No Oblivion for me? T_T

It probably is overheating. I'll take the casing off, see how that works.

If it doesn't, then nuts.

bben, thanks VERY much for your excellent help on this problem.

I feel it may be coming to a close though. If you still have suggestions, I'll be ECSTATIC to try them.

Also, I'll take a screenshot of the crash if I can. You'll see it in my next post. It's kind of like a TV's static fuzz. Sideways jagged lines. The colors of them are dependent on what was going on in the background.

I would like to see that pic, It sounds more like overheating or a vid card than a problem with the game. Most video cards have a fan, make sure it is running. Some video cards and most motherboards include a utility that can allow you to look at temperatures. I had to add fans to my case because my Nvidia 7600GT was overheating when I first started playing Oblivion. You might try lowering your video settings to minimum just to see if that works. Minimum settings will not generate as much heat.

The fan is running.

It's kidna small though. I could get a bigger one. That would make the space within my....

By jorge, that's it!

I got a new power supply to run my graphics card, but it's kinda clunky and had a lot of wires!

That's why it overheats so bad! I removed the cover, but it still overheated. I'll look for that utility, and lower the settings to lowwwww (I don't mind crap graphics for worthy gameplay) to see how that goes. This just may save my gaming =]

I'll let you know if it works. It's late, so I'll let you know tomorrow.

Take care!

I...am amazed...

It works!

I took of the cover, placed it in a cooler spot, and it works...

But I did lower the graphics to medium. So the game looks like garbage.

The gameplay is still fun. but I'm gonna try and push it to the limit.

Now I'm debating which mods I should work to put it. I had Deadly Reflex 3 installed, but whenever I used a shield bash or whatever, it crashed to desktop.

I have some other questions for you, bben. Shuld I start a new topic, continue here, or PM you?

I have a new site where I am starting to post all of my troubleshooting and help files I check it before I look at Tesnexus

It's not really complete yet, but it is open. Come on over and take a look. Give us some feedback.
