Beowulf616
i want to become a vampire, but i dont know if i should. I would just go right ahead and test but i heard once you take the cure, thats it. So i want to know, what does the oblivion playing population think, is it really worth it? ups downs, does it change the way you play? also, there any good mods that can asist with being a vampire, or something to suit the mystique/persona of being one? ps. can someone please respond to my other topic, the issue is really annoying. LoginToDownload
The basics of Vanilla vampirism go like this...Vampirism has four stages. You start at stage 1, and progress through them by going a day without feeding. The higher the stage, the more extreme the effects of vampirism. At stage 1 you don't even have to worry about sun damage, and at stage 2 a tough character can still hang out in the sun pretty much indefinitely. The basic attributes changes are Resist Disease/Paralysis/Normal Weapons, Weakness to Fire, the aforementioned Sun Damage, and boosts to various attributes and skills. Your stage only updates when you wait or sleep, which gives you some versitality. You feed by activating a sleeping NPC, and doing so sets you back to stage 1. Naturally, you don't want to be seen while doing so.At stage 3 or 4, people without very high dispositions won't talk to you or, in the case of guards, attack you on sight.Vampires get a set of powers depending on their stage. At stage 1 you get Hunter's Sight, a lesser power that gives you a long range Detect Life and Night eye for 30 seconds. It only costs 5 Magicka. At stage 2 a magnitude-50 Charm greater power is added as well, which comes in handy for getting someone to talk to you at stages 3 and 4. Stage 3 gives the character the Reign of Terror greater power, a Demoralize level 25 and 20-foot Silence effect. Both have a 60-second duration. Stage 4 adds the Embrace of Shadows greater power, which gives the caster invisibility for 180 seconds and Night Eye for 90.Vampiric appearance means all vampires look like old geezers, but higher-stage vampires moreso. If playing a save that was loaded with your character already subject to vampiric appearance, (Which is next to unavoidable without cheating) their face will reset to the race-default if ever cured. I find that vampirism adds new gameplay mechanics, which Vanilla Oblivion seemed rather wanting for, and none of them annoying. There are too many mods to count that improve the Vanilla vampire experience, but also a lot of high-quality mods that overhaul vampirism alltogether. I would sincerely reccommend doing a tag search for the "Gameplay Effects and Changes/Related to Vampires" tags first, if you do plan on giving it a try. And would sincerely reccommend getting a vampire overhaul.
