NPC Weapons with Ammo

Hello,

While looting weapons from dead NPCs I have occasionally noticed that I'd receive ammo when picking up their weapon. By this I mean that, without being too pedantic or making this more complex than it actually is, that - simply put - if I take every other item from the NPC (including the ammunition) so that there is nothing but a gun left, picking up this gun not only adds the gun itself but a small number of bullets. How is this achieved?

I ask because I want to implement such a feature to weapons added to leveled lists via mods. So far, what I have been doing - and I'll try my best to explain myself thoroughly, but without going into too much detail either, so that I'm not wasting anybodies time - is using an ordinary 'withammoGUNloot' leveled item and instead of having a normal 'condGUNloot' leveled item I place a 'withammoGUN' which includes the leveled gun as usual as well as a sma ll number of bullets - usually equal to the weapons mag or slightly less. I'll try and show what I mean by using a simple diagram with special arrows:

'withammoGUNloot' 8======3 Contains 1 'withammoGUN' and leveled ammunition

'withammoGUN' 8=====3 Contains 1 'condGUNloot' and leveled ammunition

'condGUNloot' 8====3 Contains standard leveled GUNs at various conditions.

What I want to see when I loot an NPC with a custom weapon is the weapon itself and any spare ammunition, and when I pick up the weapon a full mags worth (or less) of ammo is also added to my inventory. Does anyone have any general guidance and do you think my approach would work?

Thankyou for reading, and I hope very much and with the utmost sincerity that I have made myself clear, but if I haven't, or if there is something about my question that you don't understand, or if you have any other type of query, please don't hesitate to ask.
