I think I have the solution to your problems (as seen on another topic)

If you go into your folder settings in control pad and enable seeing hidden folders, then goto Comp>Users>(Name)>AppData>Local>Skyrim>plugins.txt

If there is two Skyrim.esm, delete one. You need to repeat this every time you install or delete a mod.

For some reason lately the NMM is putting an extra one in. It solved my issues! See if there is two, people are also saying to delete the update.whatever file.

If there isn't, I guess this wasn't the root of your issues, but i hope I helped!

My skyrim.esm was actually missing from that file. I had to add it and all is working now.

If you are still experiencing a CTD or WETriggerScript error when loading a game after you do any of the following:

  • Change Load order via NMM
  • Check/Un-Check an .esp/.esm via NMM
  • Add/Remove a mod with a plugin (.esm/esp) via NMM

Nexus Mod Manager my be corrupting a file called "plugins.txt" by adding additional entries to it like "syrim.esm," and "Skyrim.esm." The file is located here: C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Local\Skyrim (hidden file/folder). Keep in mind it will re-corrupt this file every time you make one of the changes listed above with NMM.

Visit this bug report and try some of the Moderator's suggestions. If you have experienced this issue with recent versions of NMM, please click "Confirm" While you are there. Good Luck.

... ... ... Boy... Do I feel stupid. I've had this problem for somethin' like, oh, a year... I got so frustrated with it that I just threw out the entire game. I knew it was something with a mod that I downloaded, and I knew it had to do with the mods. So I wiped it clean (I do this often with this game, so it's nothing new to me, I love starting new characters and playing new mods on new games and everything)... When re-installing didn't work. I got rid of my mods and NMM... Obviously did nothing. It seems that the easy fix comes from NMM itself.

Without any mods or anything in there, there are 2 things checked. The Skyrim.esm, and the update.esm... Apparently having the update.esm checked is a BAD thing. Way back, though, I don't think this was a problem. Makes me think that an update to NMM caused some issues and therefore caused the extra skyrim.esm thing in the .txt file... I dunno, eitherway the quickest fix is to:

Open NMM

Uncheck Update.esm

Done. If that doesn't work, uninstall any of your new mods that you think may have caused the problem... But it could possibly just be as simple as that...

I can't believe something as simple as that caused me to lose EVERYTHING for my game... bleh, whatever, time to start finding fun mods again! *Automatically goes to the adult section of the nexus*
